HC bench not possible instantly: Government

Hyderabad, October 28: The government has appealed to the lawyers agitating for a high court bench at various places in the state to withdraw their agitations as it had already given an assurance in this regard and the implementation is going to take some time in view of the involvement of several parties.

Lawyers are on a warpath in Krishna and Guntur districts for a high court bench between Vijayawada and Guntur. Agitations are also on in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam for a bench in those areas.

Addressing a press conference at Secretariat here on Wednesday, minister for law and courts Mopidevi Venkata Ramana and minister for forests P Ramachandra Reddy said, “The state government has already assured the same but it will take time to implement. The issue is not just under the state government’s purview but the High Court, Supreme Court and the central government are also involved.” Terming it a sensitive issue, they said, “It can’t be solved instantly.” “The demands of advocates are justified. Advocates and judiciary have a lot of respect among people and it’s not right for them to take to streets,” the ministers said.

Admitting that it’s a long-pending issue, they said the state government was aware of it and would take a decision at the appropriate time.
