Islamabad, June 12: Security forces destroyed several militant hideouts in Pakistan’s restive tribal region killing 10 insurgents.Pakistan's army launched military offensive in Orakzai tribal region after declaring partial success in the adjacent South Waziristan agency. Many militants on the run from South Waziristan sneaked into Orakzai and North Waziristan agencies.
Fighter jets targeted remnants of the Pakistani Taliban in the Orakzai region, Samiullah Khan, a local administrator said .
He said some militants were also wounded in the attacks. Pakistani forces were conducting military operations in Orakzai , Kurram and Bajaur agencies of the FATA .They have also been unusually active in North Waziristan, which is considered the stronghold of the Afghan Taliban and al Qaeda .
Despite Pakistan's recent declaration of victory in Orakzai tribal region, Taliban militants attacked a military convoy on 9th june 2010 in the area close to the Afghan border, sparking a battle that killed 43 militants and seven soldiers.
