Islamabad, February 21:

At least 12 people have been killed and a woman has been injured in a spate of violence across Pakistan’s provinces of Balochistan and Sindh, Press TV reports.

According to local officials, unknown gunmen shot dead two people in the city of Quetta, Balochistan province on Monday night.

In another incident, armed men claimed the lives of two people in the Dera Murad Jamali town in the southwestern province.

Meanwhile, two separate landmine blasts also left two people dead and a woman injured in Chamalang and Sui areas of Balochistan.

This is while, unidentified gunmen killed at least six people in separate violence incidents in different areas of Karachi in southern Sindh province late on Monday.

There has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan since late 2009, and thousands have been displaced in the aftermath of the militancy sweeping across the country.

More than 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US on the so-called war against terrorism.
