Riyadh, March 26:

Allah keeps all the holy persons alive even after their death. One such incident came to limelight in tourist area of Aseer Zone in Saudi Arabia recently. This area is located in the South West of the country. During excavation, some dead bodies were exhumed from 150 year old graves. They were fresh and intact. People flocked in large numbers to see the fresh faces of these dead bodies.

According to a report published in ‘Sabaqul-Electronia’ Arabic journal excavation work was in progress for the construction of a five star hotel and a posh shopping mall at a place called Qamees Masheet in Saudi Arabia.

On Wednesday, while digging, traces of some graves were found. Persons working on the project examined the place. They exhumed two dead bodies from the pits. According to eye-witnesses, both the dead bodies were and free from any dust particles etc. engineers working on the commissioned.

The Imam of Masjid Shaik Ahmed Bin Mohammed al-Hawashi for observation Shaik Ahmed personally visited the area and saw these dead bodies. According to the Arab tradition, the wheat complexioned faces had beards.

By seeing the faces of these dead bodies it seemed that these dead bodies could be of some pious Islamic scholars Hafiz-e-Quran or the martyrs. The dead bodies were encircled in the wreath of a bright light and fragrance. To see the innocent faces of these dead bodies, many people flocked in large numbers and they were spell-bound and wonder-struck on seeing them.

Engineers requested to stop the construction work and to cover these graves with full honour. After exhuming the dead bodies, the engineers called the doctors. After examining these dead bodies the doctors reported that these dead bodies are not less than 150 years old. It scams that these persons died more than 100 years ago. The doctors were unable to specify the reason for not decomposing the dead bodies because no scientific evidence was available for not affecting any change in these bodies.

These dead bodies were free from any chemicals for the mummifying these dead bodies. In the absence of such evidences it can only be said that it must be a miraculous event.

All Dead are in the state of BAZARKH

What is meant by al-barzakh is the period between a person's death and his resurrection on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever dies as a Muslim, obeying Allaah, will be in a blessed state, and whoever dies as a kaafir, disobeying Allaah, will be punished. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning);

“The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon. And on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): ‘Cause Fir‘aun’s (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!’”

[Ghaafir 40:46]

The punishments vary according to the sins committed. A hadeeth was narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari which describes the torments of al-barzakh which will befall some of those who committed major sins. It was narrated that Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allaah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) often used to ask his companions, ‘Did any one of you see a dream?’ So dreams would be described to him by those who Allaah willed should speak. One morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Last night, two people came to me (in a dream), and woke me up and said, ‘Let’s go!’ I set out with them, and we came across a man who was lying down, with another man standing over him, holding a big rock. He threw the rock at the man's head, smashing it. The rock rolled away, and the one who had thrown it followed it, and picked it up. By the time he came back to the man, his head had been restored to its former state. Then he (the one who had thrown the rock) did the same as he had done before. I said to my two companions, ‘Subhaan Allaah! Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on!’ So we went on, and came to a man who was lying flat on his back, with another man standing over him, holding an iron hook. He put the hook in the man's mouth and tore off that side of his face to the back (of his neck), and he tore his nose and his eye from front to back in a similar manner. Then he turned to the other side of the man's face and did likewise. No sooner had he finished the second side but the first side was restored to its former state, then he went back and did the same thing again. I said to my two companions, ‘Subhaan Allaah! Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on!’ So we went on, and came to something like a tannoor (a kind of oven, lined with clay, usually used for baking bread). – I think the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, in that oven there was much noise and voices. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) added: - We looked into it and saw naked men and women. A flame of fire was reaching them from underneath, and when it reached them, they cried out loudly. I asked them, ‘Who are these?’ They said to me, ‘Move on!’ So we went on and came to a river – I think he said, red like blood. – In the river there was a man swimming, and on the bank there was a man who had gathered many stones. Whilst the swimmer was swimming, the man who had gathered the stones approached him. The swimmer opened his mouth and the man on the bank threw a stone into it, then the swimmer carried on swimming. Each time he came back, he opened his mouth again, and the man on the bank threw another stone into his mouth. I said to my two companions, ‘Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on, move on!’ We went on and came to a man who had the most repulsive appearance imaginable. Beside him there was a fire, which he was kindling, and he was running around it. I asked my companions, ‘Who is this man?’ They said, ‘Move on, move on!’ So we went on until we reached a garden of deep green dense vegetation, with all kinds of spring colours. In the midst of this garden was a very tall man, whose head I could hardly see because of his great height. Around him there were children, a great number such as I have never seen. I said to my companions, ‘who is this man, and who are these children?’ They said, ‘Move on, move on!’ So we went on, until we came to a huge garden, bigger and better than any I have ever seen. My two companions said to me, ‘Go up.’ So we went up into it, until we reached a city built of gold and silver bricks. We went to the gate and asked for it to be opened. It was opened and we entered the city, where we found men with one side of their bodies more handsome than the most handsome person you have ever seen, and the other side uglier than the ugliest person you have ever seen. My two companions ordered those men to throw themselves into the river. There was a river flowing through the city, and its water was pure white. The men went and threw themselves in the river, and came out with the ugliness in their bodies gone, and they were in the best shape. (My two companions) said to me, ‘This is the Paradise of ‘Aden (the Garden of Eden), and that is your place.’ I looked up and saw a palace like a white cloud. They said to me, ‘That is your place.’ I said to them, ‘May Allaah bless you both, let me enter it.’ They said, ‘For now you will not enter it, but you shall enter it (one day).’ I said to them, I have seen many wonders this night. What do all these things mean that I have seen?’ They said: ‘We will tell you. The first man you came across, whose head was being smashed with the rock, is the man who studies the Qur’aan then he neither recites it nor acts upon it, and he goes to sleep, neglecting the obligatory prayers. The man you came across whose mouth, nose and ears were being torn from front to back, is the man who goes out of his house in the morning and tells a lie that is so serious that it spreads all over the world. The naked men and women whom you saw in a structure that resembled an oven are the adulterers and adulteresses. The man you saw swimming in the river with rocks being thrown into his mouth is the one who consumed riba (usury). The ugly-looking man whom you saw kindling a fire and walking around it was Maalik, the keeper of Hell. The tall man whom you saw in the garden was Ibraaheem, and the children around him were the children who died (young) in a state of fitrah (natural state of mankind, i.e., Islam).’ – Some of the Muslims asked, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what about the children of the mushrikeen?’ He said, ‘And the children of the mushrikeen too.’ – ‘As for the men who were half handsome and half ugly, they were people who had mixed a good deed with another deed that was bad, but Allaah forgave them.’” (narrated by Muslim, no. 6525)

Is it true ???

Salam Alaikum,

I am not of those who are in doubt of this news. I am just wondering that how come i didnt hear or read this news anywhere despite of living here in Riyadh, KSA.

All praises are for Almighty Allah Subhan wa tala and nothing is impossible for him.

I have lived & worked in KSA

I have lived & worked in KSA for years and I can tell you why saudi newspapers did not cover this news. It is due to their wahhabi beliefs. Wahhabis belief that once a man dies, he will become dust, no sawab can reach him after death. Some Saudi scholars have even denied azaab-e-khabar.

Our aqeedah is that Allah preserves the bodies of Ambiya, Siddiqeen, Shuhadaa and Momineen (and it is mentioned in lot of very strong hadiths).

you fool, these are saudi

you fool, these are saudi wahsbi only.

one wahhabi scholar said in

one wahhabi scholar said in his speech that rasulullah (sal) is dead..he says if rasulullah (sal) is not dead, then the sahabas did a grave crime by burying a man alive...
Quran says that the martyrs are alive.. then did rasulullah (sal) make a mistake (nauzubillah) of burying the martyrs alive?

Answer lies in your Question itself

Yes, Quran says the martyrs are alive at the same time we know that indeed the Prophet (SAW) did bury the martyrs of Badr and Uhud etc.,Then what does it mean ?????
The answer is very clear the martyrs' being alive is related to the Barzakh as narrated in the Hadees that their souls are transferred in birds and they get the benefits while in this world their souls have departed from their bodies and if you do not bury their dead bodies they would rot, their wives have been treated as "Bewa" and their children as "Yateem" also their properties have been distributed to their inheritors all pointing out that their life in this world has come to an end.
But, unfortunately although we know this truth our so-called Ulema for their own malified intentions try to take this as evidence to prove that the Auliya-Allah are alive in their graves and the worst thing that they give the qualities and capabilities of Allah alone (Ghaib ka Ilm, Hearing from far, answering the call/dua of people etc.,) to these Auliya which is a manifest Shirk with Allah.
May Allah guide us all to the right path. Ameen.

Dont listen to wahhabis they

Dont listen to wahhabis they are confused lot and will confuse you too. Wahhabiyon ka ek-ek argument khokli bunyaadon par mabni hai.

Agar unke mutabiq koi banda margaya hai. To unsay poocho azaaab-e-khabar ka tasawwur phir kaise hoga. Kyunki maray huway aadmi ko dard kaise hoga????

aala hazrat ko pooch . Kaisa

arey bewaqoof

arey bewaqoof hum jab aad mi mer gaya boley to uska duniya sey koi connection nahi raha....he will enter the state of bazarkh..when he enters qubboor, as per his or her deeds, his SOUL will enjoy the blessings of PARADISE and the sinner will have the torment...its not visible, its gayb....we refute you because you say falan falan barhaney baba, is living wordly life in chota sa qaber....they say he is alive inside just like us...eating shitting....and you say they hear your prayers...whereas only Allah is alim ul gayb...and only HE listends to our prayers and what is in our hearts...if you say that so and so Aliallah is listening to thousands of people at a time without any medium and that too when he died, then you have committed major shirk in Asma was Sifaath of Allah s.w.t

Incorrect article/False news

Siasat which is a widely read paper should be very careful when posting articles related to Islam before verifying their authenticity, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! If a Faasiq (liar — evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done”
[al-Hujuraat 49:6]

There are many mistakes in this article which are as follows:

1. The news article posted has no Saudi source to see where it originated from.

2. Verse 3:170 is actually: “Rejoicing in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His bounty, and they receive good tidings about those [to be martyred] after them who have not yet joined them - that there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.”

3. The verse that is mentioned is actually the 169th verse: “And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision,”.

4. In this verse, Allah states that even though the martyrs (not “ALL HOLY PEOPLE”) were killed in this life, their souls are alive and receiving provisions in the Dwelling of Everlasting Life.

5. In his Sahih, Muslim recorded that Masruq said, "We asked `Abdullah about this Ayah,

(Think not of those as dead who are killed in the way of Allah. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision.)

He said, `We asked the Messenger of Allah the same question and he said,

(Their souls are inside green birds that have lamps, which are hanging below the Throne (of Allah), and they wander about in Paradise wherever they wish. Then they return to those lamps. Allah looks at them and says, `Do you wish for anything' They say, `What more could we wish for, while we go wherever we wish in Paradise' Allah asked them this question thrice, and when they realize that He will keep asking them until they give an answer, they say, `O Lord! We wish that our souls be returned to our bodies so that we are killed in your cause again.' Allah knew that they did not have any other wish, so they were left.)'''

There are several other similar narrations from Anas and Abu Sa`id.
( Source: Muslim (3/1502))

I advise Siasat(first myself) to verify matters and not to rush to post them until they are sure that it is true. May Allaah help us all to do that which He loves and which pleases Him.

And Allaah knows best.

Is it REALLY a Gross accusation ?

[Prophet's are Alive]

Hayat al-Anbiya (عليه السلام) [Prophet's are Alive]

The belief of the mainstream Ahlus-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah is that our beloved Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and other Prophets (عليه السلام) are alive in their respective graves.

They are usually involved in performing prayers and worshiping Allah (out of their own free choice without it being obligatory on them), which we cannot normally see or feel just like Angels are alive and present but we cannot normally see them.

Proofs on the fact that Prophets (عليه السلام) remaining alive in their graves:

There are many proofs in the Qur’an, Hadith and sayings of the predecessors regarding the prophets remaining alive after death. Some are reproduced here:

Qur'an States:

Allah puts forth a Parable a man belonging to many partners at variance with each other, and a man belonging entirely to one master: are those two equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah. but most of them have no knowledge. [az-Zumar 39:29]

Truly thou wilt die (one day), and truly they (too) will die (one day). [az-Zumar 39:30]

As mentioned in (Verse number 29) the condition of two persons to be different, similarly the death of Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is not same like other deaths. There is great difference between the conditions and the levels of both. This example was given because of this reason that equality to the respect of Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) (Shan-e-Nabuwah) should be condemned completely.

It is said that Ahlus-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah actually believes that the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) did not die!! What a gross accusation!! The true belief of the Ahlus-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah is that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), did indeed "TASTE" death, but then he is made alive in his grave. (Note: All the proofs misused by certain people do prove that prophets including Huzoor (صلى الله عليه وسلم) had tasted death. We do believe in all those verses and Ahadith, so there is no two opinions about that point but the point to be discussed here is not the occurrence of death but the true concept of the death of a Prophet) It is in the grave that the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is presented with our deeds, and makes supplication on behalf of the Ummah. There are also instances where the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) will appear in our dreams and comfort us with good news and glad tidings. We also believe that to send salaam (salutations) to our Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is directly recieved by him and that It will be met with a reply.

Qur'an States:

And say not of those who are slain (martyred) in the way of Allah, “they are dead”, nay, they are living, though you perceive it not” [Surah al-Baqarah, 154]

Of course, it goes without saying that the position of the Prophets (عليه السلام) is above and beyond the status of those who are martyred in Allah's way. This proves that he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is alive too.

Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (Allah have mercy on him) states in his monumental commentary of Sahih al-Bukhari i.e. Fath al-Bari: "When the living of the martyrs is proven from the text of the Qur’an, then this is also proven from a analogical point of view. And the Prophets are superior then the martyrs" [Fath al-Bari, Volume 006: Page No. 379]

Qadhi Shawkawni writes: "In the Qur'an it is mentioned that martyrs are alive and food is provided for them. The Prophets and righteous people are a lot higher in status than them so what will be their place? It has been proven through Ahadith that Prophets are alive in their graves. Both Imam at-Tirmidhi and Imam al-Bayhaqi have said that these are authentic Ahadith" [Nayl al-Awtar, Volume 003, Page No. 82]

Hadith #1

Anas b. malik reported

Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) as saying: I came. And in the narration transmitted on the authority of Haddib (the words are): I happened to pass by Moses (عليه السلام) on the occasion of the Night journey near the red mound (and found him) saying his prayer in his Grave. [Sahih Muslim Book 030, Number 5858:]

Note: Praying inside grave represents "Haqeeqi" life

Hadith #2

Anas b. malik reported

Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: The Prophets are alive in their graves and praying

This hadith is mentioned by Imam Abu Yala and the narrator of this hadith are strong and this hadith is also mentioned by Imam Ibn Adi and bayhaqi. Imam ibn Adi said there is no harm in it (i.e. the chain)

Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (Allah have mercy on him) have said in Fath-ul-bari that: Imam Bayhaqi has compiled a fabulous book on Hayaat of Anbiya (عليه السلام) in their graves, there he has narrated a hadith from Hadrat Anas (رضي الله عنهم) that Prophets (عليه السلام) are alive in their graves and praying. He has narrated this hadith from the route of Yahya bin Abi kathir and he is narrator of Sahih, (Next Page No. 603) he has narrated from Mustalim bin Saeed who is declared as “THIQA”(Sound) by Imam Ahmad and Imam Ibn Hibban, from Hajaj al-Aswad and he is Ibn Abi Ziyad al-Basri whom Imam Ahmad and (Yahya) bin Moeen declared "THIQA"(Sound) from Thabit and Imam Abu Yala has also mentioned this hadith in his musnad on the same way.... Also when the living of the martyrs is proven from the Nass of the Qur'an, then the Prophets are superior than the martyrs [Fath ul Bari, Volume No. 6, Page Nos. 602-603]

Imam Bayhqi (rah) said in "Latifah fi Hayat al-Ambiya" That it's chain of authorities Anas bin Malik (رضي الله عنهم) is sahih ("Sound") in the Marfu form (i.e. reaching back to Prophet - Peace be upon him)

Hadith #3

Narated By AbudDarda:

The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; so invoke many blessings on me that day, for your blessing will be submitted to me as Angels witness them, no one will invoke a blessing on me without his blessing being submitted to me till he stops. They (the Companions) asked: Apostle of Allah, how can our blessing be submitted to you, when your body is decayed? He said:Allah has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of the Prophets. [Sunan Ibn Maja Volume 001: Hadith Number 1626:]

Hadith #4

Narrated on the authority of Abu Darda:

Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "Invoke many blessings on me on Friday for it is witnessed. The angels are present on it, and no one will invoke a blessing on me without his blessing being submitted to me till he stops." I asked whether that applied also after his death, and he replied, "Allah has prohibited the Earth from consuming the bodies of the prophets; so Allah's prophet is alive and given provision.[Sunan Ibn Maja Volume 001: Hadith Number 1627]

Hadrat Sheikh ‘Abd al-Haq “Muhaddith-e-Dehwli” states under the commentary of this Hadith that:

The Prophets of Allah are alive in their graves, “JUST AS THEY WERE ALIVE IN THE WORLD“[Ash’at al-Lam’at – Vol. 1 Pg. 576]

Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhadith dehlvi (rah) clarifies another important point, he states:

The Prophets are alive and everyone believes that they are alive; there is no disagreement in this. Their life (in their graves)”IS REAL, PHYSICAL LIFE (LIKE THEY POSSESSED IN THE WORLD)” not like the martyrs whose life is only spiritual. [Ash’at al-Lam’at – Vol. 1 Pg. 574]

Hadith #5

Narated By AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting. [Abu Dawud Book 004, Hadith Number 2036:]

Imam Jalal ud-din Suyuti (rah) said: The word "radda" means `ala al-dawam," i.e. permanently, and not temporarily: in other words, Allah does not return the Ruh and take it back, then return it again and then take it back again, but He returned it to the Prophet permanently, and the Prophet is alive permanently. [Al-Hawi lil Fatawi, Vol.2, Page No.271-272]
Imam al-Nawawi (rah) says of this hadith :

رَوَاهُ أبُو دَاوُدَ بإسناد صحيح

Translation: It is narrated by Abu Dawud with a “SAHIH CHAIN” [Riyadh us Saliheen 1/255, Hadith # 1402]

Qadhi Shawkani the leading authority for Ghair Muqalideen says before narrating it:

وأصح ما ورد في ذلك ما رواه أحمد وأبو داود عن أبي هريرة مرفوعاً

Translation: It has been narrated by Imam Ahmed and Abu Dawud with a Sahih and Marfu chain from Abu Hurraira [Nayl al Awtar 5/164]

Hadith #6

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: I found myself in Hijr and the Quraish were asking me about my might journey. I was asked about things pertaining to Bait-ul-Maqdis which I could not preserve (in my mind). I was very much vexed, so vexed as I had never been before. Then Allah raised it (Bait-ul-Maqdis) before my eyes. I looked towards it, and I gave them the information about whatever they questioned me I also saw myself among the group of apostles. I saw Moses (عليه السلام) saying prayer and found him to be a well-built man as if he was a man of the tribe of Shanu'a. I saw Jesus son of Mary (عليه السلام) offering prayer, of all of men he had the closest resemblance with 'Urwa b. Masu'd al-Thaqafi. I saw Ibrahim (عليه السلام) offering prayer; he had the closest resemblance with your companion (the Prophet himself) amongst people. When the time of prayer came I led them. When I completed the prayer, someone said: Here is Malik, the keeper of the Hell; pay him salutations. I turned to him, but he preceded me in salutation. [Sahih Muslim Book 001, Number 0328:]

Hadith #7

Narated By Aws b. Aws :

The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday, on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the trumpet will be blown and on it the shout will be made, so invoke many blessings on me that day, for your blessing will be submitted to me. They (the Companions) asked: Apostle of Allah, how can our blessing be submitted to you, when your body is decayed? He said: Allah has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of the Prophets. [Abu Dawud Book 002, Hadith Number 1526:]

Hadith #8

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar:

Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Whoever visits my grave after my death it is same he has visited me in my life.[Tibrani Volume 012: Hadith Number 406, Bayhaqi Shab ul Iman Volume 003: Hadith Number 489]

Hadith #9

It is attributed to ‘Abdullāh bin Mas‘ūd that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is reported to have said:

My life is blissful for you because you hear traditions from people and relate them to others and my death is also blissful for you because your deeds will be presented to me. If I see the virtues prevail, I will be grateful to Allah, and if I see the vices prevail, I will pray for your forgiveness from Allah.

Hadith #10

Hadith #11

1. Ibn Taymiyyah said: "The proof of dead awareness comes from two Sahih Books of Bukhari and Muslim in which Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that when people have buried a dead person and leave for home, the dead can hear the thumps of sandaled feet of those who leave." [Majmuaat-al-Fatawa by Ibne Taymiyyah, Volume 24: Page No. 362]

Ibn Taymiyah writes: 'A group of people heard the answer of their salaam. [Ibn Taymiyya, Iqtidah Siratul-Mustakeem, Page No. 373]

Due to the fact that there are many narrations regarding this (of which we have only reproduced a few, as an example), Imam Suyuti is of the view that these narrations have reached the level of certainty (tawatur).

9. Mullah Ali Qari on Hadhir o Nadhir: [And he (Nuh) shall reply, ‘Muhammad and his Community’] This means that his Community is witness while he vouches for them, but his mention came first out of reverence (للتعظيم). It not Ba’eed (i.e. impossible) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) is himself witness for Nuh, since it is a context of help and Allah Most High said [When Allah made (His) convenant with the Prophets] until He said [you shall believe in him and you shall help him] (3:81). In this there is a remarkable warning that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) “IS PRESENT AND WITNESSING” in the Greatest Inspection (وفيه تنبيه نبيه أنه حاضر ناظر في ذلك العرض الأكبر), when the Prophets are brought, Nuh being the first, and the latter’s witnesses are brought, namely, this Community. The prophets are alive in their graves living the ‘real’ life which they had in this world. [Naseem ur Rayaadh: Vol. 1 Pg. 196]

12. The great scholar of Quran and commentator of Sahih Muslim Imam al-Qurtubi (rah) writes:

Translation: Death is not something which brings a total end to something, it is rather transferring from one station to another, the proof of this is that martyres remain alive after getting killed or dying and they also get happy. “THIS IS THE QUALITY OF ALIVE PEOPLE IN WORLD” so when martyres are alive then“PROPHETS ARE MORE DESERVING OF LIFE THAN THEM” and it has come in Sahih hadith that Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets, and on the night of Miraaj the Prophet (Peace be upon him) gathered with all Prophets in Masjid ul Aqsa and the Prophet (Peace be upon him) also “SAW MUSA (A.S) PRAYING INSIDE HIS GRAVE” plus the Prophet has also provided the information that “ANYONE WHO SENDS SALUTATION UPON HIM, THEN HE REPLIES BACK”.Other than this, other ahadith also establish “TO CERTAINTY” that the meaning of death given to Prophets is that “THEY DISAPPEAR FROM OUR EYESIGHTS BUT IN REALITY THEY ARE ALIVE AND PRESENT” and their condition is like that of Angels, because Angels are also alive and “PRESENT” and nobody from human beings is able to see them, “EXCEPT FOR THE AWLIYA WHO THROUGH THEIR KARAMAH CAN EXPERIENCE THEM” [al-Mafhim lima Ashkala min Talkhis Kitab Sahih Muslim Volume 006, Page No. 233-4].

13. Imam al-Manawi (rah) said about Musa (a.s) praying in his grave:
الحديث بظاهره يدل على أنه رآه رؤية حقيقية في اليقظة وأنه حي في قبره يصلي الصلاة التي يصليها في الحياة وذلك وذلك ممكن ولا مانع من ذلك
Translation: This hadith apparently proves that sight of Prophet (Peace be upon him) "WAS REAL" and he (Musa a.s) is “ALIVE IN GRAVE AND PRAYING, LIKE THE ALIVE PRAY” this is possible and there is nothing abstaining from it [Faydh ul Qadeer (5/663)]

Also, one of the major incidents that prove this, is the incident of Me’raj (Ascension of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to the heavens), where he met and conversed with many Prophets. He also led them in prayer in Masjid al-Aqsa.

Conclusion:

The above evidences from the Qur’an, Hadith and the sayings of the predecessors are sufficient to prove the fact that the Prophets (عليه السلام) remain alive in their graves after they pass away from this world. There are many other evidences which we have not mentioned here, due to the fear of prolonging our discussion.

Qur'an States:

No doubt. Allah has purchased from the muslims their lives and their belongings against this return, that for them is Paradise, they fight in the way of Allah, then they kill and are killed; true promise on His generous responsibility in the Taurah and the Injeel and the Quran. And who is, true to his words than Allah'? Rejoice then in your trade ' which you have done with Him And it is this which is, the great triumph. [At-Tawba 9:111]

Do dead listen to us and visit us?

Question: I have been wondering for some time now about the condition of the grave. I wanted to know if dead people actually visit or see or feel each other whilst in the grave.

Praise be to Allaah.

Yes, it is proven that the souls of the believers meet and visit one another. There follow some of the ahaadeeth which indicate that, as well as some of the fatwas of the scholars on this matter.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When the believer is dying, the angels of mercy come to him with white silk and say: ‘Come out content and with the pleasure of Allaah upon you to the mercy of Allaah, fragrance and a Lord Who is not angry.’ So it comes out like the best fragrance of musk. They pass him from one to another until they bring him to the gate of heaven, where they say: ‘How good is this fragrance that has come to you from the earth!’ Then the souls of the believers come to him and they rejoice more over him than any one of you rejoices when his absent loved one comes to him. They ask him: ‘What happened to So and so, what happened to So and so?’ They say: ‘Let him be, for he was in the hardship of the world. When he says, ‘Did he not come here?’ They say: ‘He was taken to the pit (of Hell).’ When the kaafir is dying, the angers of punishment come to him with sackcloth and say: ‘Come out discontent and subject to divine wrath to the punishment of Allaah. So it comes out like the foulest stench of a corpse. They bring him to the gates of the earth, where they say: ‘How foul is this stench!’ Then they bring him to the souls of the kuffaar.” Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 1833; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 2758.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: Does his soul meet with the souls of his family and relatives? According to the hadeeth narrated from Abu Ayyoob al-Ansaari and others of the salaf, and narrated by Abu Haatim in al-Saheeh from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “When his soul is taken up it is met by the souls who ask him about the living and they say to one another: ‘Let him rest.’ And they say: ‘What happened to So and so?’ And he says: ‘He did a righteous deed.’ They say: ‘What happened to So and so?’ and he says: ‘Has he not come to you?’ They say: ‘No.’ They say: ‘He was taken to the Pit (of Hell).’”

And because the deeds of the living are shown to the dead, Abu’l-Darda’ used to say: “O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from doing any deed that would shame me before ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Rawaahah.” This is how they meet when he comes and they ask him questions and they answer him.

With regard to where they settle, that depends on their status before Allaah. For the one who is among those who are close to Allaah (al-muqarrabeen – cf. al-Waaqi’ah 56:88), his status will be higher than those of the Right Hand (cf. al-Waaqi’ah 56:90). The one who is higher may descend to the one who is lower but the one who is lower cannot ascend to the one who is higher, thus they will gather when Allaah wills as they used to gather in this world, despite their differences in status, and they will visit one another.

That will happen whether their places in which they are buried in this world are far apart or close together. Souls may meet even though their places of burial are far apart, or they may be separated even though their places of burial are close together. A believer may be buried beside a kaafir, but the soul of the former will be in Paradise whilst the soul of the latter is in Hell. Two men may be sitting or sleeping in the same place, but the heart of one is blessed and the heart of the other is tormented, and there is no connection between the two souls. As the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Souls are troops collected together and those who got along with each other (in the heaven from whence they come) would have an affinity with one another (in this world) and those amongst them who opposed each other (in heaven) would also be divergent (in the world).” Narrated by Muslim, 2638; Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 24/368.

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

The second issue is whether the souls of the dead meet one another, visit one another and talk to one another.

This is a good question. The answer is that souls are of two types: those that are punished and those that are blessed. Those that are punished are too preoccupied with the torment that they are facing to visit and meet one another, but the souls that are blessed are free and are not detained, so they meet one another, visit one another and talk about what they used to do in this world and what happened to the people of this world. So each soul will be with its friends who did similar good deeds. The soul of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is with the highest companions. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And whoso obey Allaah and the Messenger (Muhammad), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allaah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddeeqoon (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr As‑Siddeeq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!”

[al-Nisa’ 4:69]

This togetherness is confirmed in this world, in al-Barzakh and in the abode of reward (Paradise), and “A man will be with those whom he loves” in these three realms… Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“(It will be said to the pious — believers of Islamic Monotheism): ‘O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction!

28. ‘Come back to your Lord,— well‑pleased (yourself) and well‑pleasing (unto Him)!

29. ‘Enter you then among My (honoured) slaves,

30. ‘And enter you My Paradise!’”

[al-Fajr 89:27-30]

i.e., enter among them and be one of them. This is said to the soul at the time of death… And Allaah has told us that the martyrs are: “are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:169]; they “rejoice for the sake of those who have not yet joined them, but are left behind” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:170] and “They rejoice in a grace and a bounty from Allaah” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:171]. This indicates that they will meet one another in three ways: (1) they are with their Lord and are given provision, and if they are alive then they meet one another; (2) they rejoice at the arrival of their brothers and their meeting with them; and (3) the word yastabshiroon (translated as “rejoice”) implies that they pass the good news to one another. Al-Rooh, p. 17, 18.

There are ahaadeeth which state that the dead visit one another and we are commanded to make their shrouds beautiful because of that, but none of these ahaadeeth are saheeh. For example, the hadeeth of Abu Qataadah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever takes the responsibility of preparing his brother for burial, let him make his shroud beautiful, for they visit one another in them.” Shu’ab al-Eemaan, 7/10.

Its isnaad includes Salam ibn Ibraaheem al-Warraaq whom Ibn Mu’een and al-Dhahabi classed as a liar, as did others.

And Allaah knows best.

Islam Q&A

www.islamqa.info

What after we are dead??

Question: What is Barzakh? Please explain in details. also I would like to know what kind of punishment is there on which sins?

Praise be to Allaah.

What is meant by al-barzakh is the period between a person's death and his resurrection on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever dies as a Muslim, obeying Allaah, will be in a blessed state, and whoever dies as a kaafir, disobeying Allaah, will be punished. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning);

Nature of Life of Prophet's in grave

The Nature of Life in the Grave
ar - en - fr - ug - tr
Share |
When it is said that the dead person is alive in the grave, is that the same as his former life (is he alive in the same way)? How many of his senses are restored to him? For how long does he stay alive in the grave? If the dead person is questioned in a physical sense, how does that apply in the case of those who are burned (cremated) like the Hindus and Japanese and others? Where does their questioning take place? When a doctor performs an operation, he removes the person's senses by means of an anaesthetic. With regard to death, I wonder what death means?

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly: it should be noted that what is obligatory upon every believing man and woman is to believe what Allaah tells them in His Book or on the lips of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about all matters that have to do with the Hereafter, the Reckoning, Paradise and Hell, or that have to do with death, the grave and torment or blessing in the grave, and all matters of the Unseen that are mentioned in the Noble Qur’aan or in the saheeh reports of the Sunnah. We have to believe and accept that, because we know that our Lord tells the truth in all that He says and tells us about. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“and whose words can be truer than those of Allaah? (Of course, none)”

[al-Nisaa’ 4:122]

“And who is truer in statement than Allaah?”[al-Nisaa’ 4:87]

We know that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is the most truthful of people, and that he never spoke on the basis of his own whims and desires; it was Revelation which was revealed to him. Whatever was proven in the saheeh ahaadeeth, it is obligatory to believe in it even if we do not fully understand it. So what we have to do is to believe what has been narrated concerning the matters of the Hereafter and of Paradise and Hell, and the blessings of the people of Paradise and the torments of the people of Hell, and the fact that in the grave a person will be tormented or blessed, and that his soul will return to him. All of this is true and is stated in the texts, so we have to submit to that and believe everything that we learn from the Qur’aan or that is narrated in the saheeh Sunnah or on which the scholars of Islam reached consensus.

If Allaah blesses a believing man or woman with knowledge of the reasons for that, then it is even better, light upon light and knowledge upon knowledge. So let him praise Allaah and give thanks to Him for the knowledge and insight that He has bestowed, thus increasing his knowledge and peace of mind.

With regard to the questioning in the grave and the state of the deceased, this questioning is real. The deceased person’s soul will be restored to him; saheeh reports to that effect have been narrated from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The life of the deceased in the grave is different from his life in this world; it is a special kind of life in al-barzakh (the interval between his death and the Day of Resurrection) which is not like his life in this world, where he needs food and drink etc. It is a special kind of life wherein he can understand the questions and answers, so the two angels will ask him, Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your Prophet?

The believer will say, My Lord is Allaah, Islam is my religion and Muhammad is my Prophet. This will be the answer of believing men and women. Then he will be asked, What do you know about this man (Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him))? He will say, He is the Messenger of Allaah. He brought us guidance and we believed in him and followed him. It will be said: we knew that you were a believer. Then a gate to Paradise will be opened for him, and he will feel its rest and provision and blessings. It will be said, This is your place until Allaah resurrects you to it. And he will be shown his place in Hell, and it will be said to him, This would have been your place if you had disbelieved in Allaah, but now Allaah has granted you refuge from it and you have ended up in Paradise.

As for the kaafir, he will be asked about his Lord and his religion and his Prophet, and he will say, Oh, oh, I don’t know, I heard the people saying something so I said the same. Then he will be beaten with an iron rod and will utter a scream that will be heard by all things apart from al-thaqalayn, i.e. jinn and men; the animals will hear it. Then a gate to Hell will be opened for him, and his grave will constrict until his ribs intermingle, and his grave will be like one of the pits of Hell. A gate to Hell will be opened for him and he will feel its heat and torment. It will be said, This is your place until Allaah resurrects you to it. Then a door to Paradise will be opened for him and he will be shown his place in Paradise, and it will be said to him, This would have been your place if Allaah had guided you.

From this we know that the grave will be either one of the gardens of Paradise or one of the pits of Hell. The torment or blessing will happen to the body as well as the soul in the grave, and also in the Hereafter, in either Paradise or Hell.

With regard to those who die by drowning or burning, or are eaten by wild animals, their souls will have their share of torment or blessing, and that will come to their bodies on land or in the sea, or in the bellies of the wild animals, as much as Allaah wills. But most of the blessing or torment will come to their souls which remain, either in a state of blessing or a state of torment. The soul of the believer will go to Paradise; the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The soul of the believer is a bird which hangs from the trees of Paradise, eating their fruits; the soul of the kaafir goes to Hell.”

Every Muslim man and woman has to accept what Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) have told us, and believe it as it was meant by Allaah, even though some of the meaning may be hidden from us. And Allaah has perfect wisdom, may He be glorified.

150 years Old Dead Bodies exhumed in Saudi
Arabia
Location:
Riyadh
Allah keeps all the holy persons alive even after their death. One such incident came to limelight in tourist
area of Aseer Zone in Saudi Arabia recently. This area is located in the South West of the country. During
excavation, some dead bodies were exhumed from 150 year old graves. They were fresh and intact.
People flocked in large numbers to see the fresh faces of these dead bodies.
According to a report published in ?Sabaqul-Electronia? Arabic journal excavation work was in progress for
the construction of a five star hotel and a posh shopping mall at a place called Qamees Masheet in Saudi
Arabia.
On Wednesday, while digging, traces of some graves were found. Persons working on the project
examined the place. They exhumed two dead bodies from the pits. According to eye-witnesses, both the
dead bodies were and free from any dust particles etc. engineers working on the commissioned.
The Imam of Masjid Shaik Ahmed Bin Mohammed al-Hawashi for observation Shaik Ahmed personally
visited the area and saw these dead bodies. According to the Arab tradition, the wheat complexioned faces
had beards.
By seeing the faces of these dead bodies it seemed that these dead bodies could be of some pious Islamic
scholars Hafiz-e-Quran or the martyrs. The dead bodies were encircled in the wreath of a bright light and
fragrance. To see the innocent faces of these dead bodies, many people flocked in large numbers and
they were spell-bound and wonder-struck on seeing them.
Engineers requested to stop the construction work and to cover these graves with full honour. After
exhuming the dead bodies, the engineers called the doctors. After examining these dead bodies the
doctors reported that these dead bodies are not less than 150 years old. It scams that these persons died
more than 100 years ago. The doctors were unable to specify the reason for not decomposing the dead
bodies because no scientific evidence was available for not affecting any change in these bodies.
These dead bodies were free from any chemicals for the mummifying these dead bodies. In the absence of
such evidences it can only be said that it must be a miraculous event.

As Salam Alaikum,

Allah can do anything he wants(KUN FA YA KUN), the most important thing that Allah promise in Quran is that he will give life to all the human on the day of HASHER, all the people will raised without cloths and will be accountable for all his deeds they did in the materialistic world.

The important thing after this news just we have to think for our self how we can enter paradise and correct our self by following the correct path of QURAN & Teachings of Muhammad (PBUH) and this thing is not that important for the people of TAWHEED (the path of worshipping Allah). Also by this kind of miracles Allah wants to keep those people astray who follow the path of Sufism, bowing to graves, Sufi shakes, peers, murshid, Syed Sahab, Qudaris & so called Auliya allah.

Allah says in QURAN that we will seal the hearts of mushriks & Kafars espically to put them in hell fire and no one can get them out of Jahannum. If a person read QURAN with meaning he can understand the concept of TAWHEED in Islam Right from ADAM (AS) to Muhammad (PBUH).

one years back in manglour in India ALLAH has shown a serpent with 5 heads and it is clear that ALLAH want to put non believers in hell fire and so he want those non believers to stick to their faiths and he send this kind of things for non belivers - please watch link below

http://www.hoax-slayer.com/five-headed-cobra-hoax.shtml

This is a test for the MUSLIM, Alhamdullilah ALLAH always want to test what the people of faith will do after finding this kind of miracles , Alhamdulillah we are in Saudi Arabia the blessed land, in fact if this happened in India or Pakistan, the people would have started worshipping the graves of those two Corpses in the name of AULIYA ALLAH.

It is not that important for Muslims , this kind of things will happen but one thing this dead people can’t help the living people just by intermediating with ALLAH, Even we cannot ask MUHAMMAD (SWAS) grave to intermediate with ALLAH (in most of the masjid in india people do Dua Saying NABI KA SADKA MA) because ALLAH clearly says in QURAN to ask him alone and to worship non another then ALLAH

Waliakum as Salam, i dont

Waliakum as Salam,
i dont know what kind of muslim or human you are,
it is proved based on quran and hadees that Prophets, martyrs, awleyas, and pious people are alive in their graves, and it is also proved with saheh hadees that visiting graves are allowed in Islam, it is also proved with hadees that making the shring owners waseela to allah for asking help is also allowed.

and it is also proofed from hadees that fitna will rise from najid wich is infact the place of birth of wahabi founder,
if you want to argue regarding the topic email me at (afghanictsolution@hotmail.com)

@Mohammad Nouman

Salam Alikum

Bhai Nouman aap kis factory me hadees manufacture karte hain? I agree with brother Salman Hamza. Bhai Nouman If you have single Verse in Quran and authentic hadees then prove it.

150 years old body

this news is not published in any saudi arabian news paper but siasat got it sitting 5000 km away from saudia. very strange. i live in abha in the neighborhood of khamis mushayt and nothing of such type happened here.

I have seen this myself and

I have seen this myself and I just could not believe my eyes when I saw this. Lots of local saudis were also witnessing this and they started questioning their belief system.

We later saw saudi police started taking over that place and stopped people from visiting the site.

My Dear brother, Whatever is mention in Quran and Hadith is true and we must believe it. But this person is asking the proof of this incident or miracle. It Has Happened Before...........

In 1932, the then ruling King of Iraq, Shah Faisal dreamt that he was being addressed by Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, who said "O King! Remove Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari and me from the bank of river Tigris and bury us at some safe place because my grave is already filled with water while Jabir's grave is collecting water slowly." That year, a large number of Muslims and non-Muslims, along with the King, Grand Mufti, Prime Minister, and Prince Farooq of Egypt were there for the opening of graves of both trusted companions of Muhammad. Both of the bodies were said to be fresh and intact while their open eyes were said to issue forth such divine light that the spectators' eyes were dazzled.[citation needed] Furthermore, their coffins, clothes, and kaffan were also intact and at first glance, it appeared as if they were alive. The two bodies were then taken away and buried afresh near the grave of Salman al-Farsi, in Salman Park, which is 30 miles from Baghdad.

He narrated about 1,500 Hadiths. After the death of Muhammad he used to deliver lectures in Masjid Nawabi, Medina, Egypt, and Damascus. Such leading Tabi'en scholars as Amr ibn Dinar, Mujahid, and Ata' ibn Abi Rabah attended his lectures. People gathered around him in Damascus and Egypt to learn about Muhammad and his Hadiths.

I Would like to conclude that when Allaah SWT can preserve the body of Biggest Zalim on the Face of the Earth Pharaoh Of Egypt & preserved him in the Ocean for over thousands of years to show Allaah's Sings for the Mankind as mentioned in Qur'an then Allaah SWT Can show HIS Sings with HIS Believers Who Followed HIS Commands & HIS Beloved Messengers Muhammad SAWS.

150 years Old Dead Bodies exhumed in Saudi Arabia

What is the proof for this news ?? can you give any official news about this which published in saudi news papers or channels ???

Munafiqs Still Required proof for this News

Some people here are asking for the proof for the news published here. By this he has still doubt on Quran and Sunnah. Please read Quran and Hadith, as Momin's Bodies are saved by the grace of Allah Subhanawa Taala.
You are asking proof? What is the proof that You are the son of your father?

Thanks

good answer for who need the proof..

Don't get angry when proof is asked.

My Dear brother, Whatever is mention in Quran and Hadith is true and we must believe it. But this person is asking the proof of this incident or miracle. This news might be true or false, so to make correct judgement we need proof. Suppose one person is saying onething and another person is saying opposite of the first person then how you will judge who is telling the truth? Ofcourse you need proof and this is the Islmaic way. so please don't get angry when someone asks for proof.

Here is the Proof

There is saying " Bin dekhe Islam Qubool karnaa wahii Imaan haii" If next generation started asking proof of genuinity of Quran and HAdith then they will be out of Islam straightaway.Anyways Allah (s.w.t) safeguard his beloved servants on the Earth or its Underneath (Grave) and please don't judge Allah(s.w.t) scope it beyond of our Imagination. Martyrs(Shuhuda) also one of the Allah(s.w.t) beloved people here what Allah (s.w.t) command, those who are slain in the path of Allah, Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran: "And say not those who have been slain in the path of Allah to be dead for they are alive and you do not know." (Part 2, Ruku 3) Since it is evident from the Holy Quran that the Martyrs are alive, Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "And say not of those who are slain in the Way of Allah 'They are dead'. Nay, they are living, though you perceive it not". (al-Baqarah: 154) Allah Ta'ala revealed these Ayahs clarifying that the Shuhada (Martyrs) are not "dead" but are transferred from one place to another where they live and are fed by the Bounteous Lord who is not deficient of anything.

Dead Bodies

Please try to get the photos of these dead bodies with their faces open. Otherwise it will be consider as a fake news.

Khaber ka azaab

I have a strange quran. My aqeedah is that after the body is dead it is of no use and they cannhot hear.but according to hadith there is punishment in the grave.does this mean that the body is still alive.also in the quran it is mentioned that martyrs dont die?and also it is reported in a hadith in muslim that when prophet(saw) addresses the body of abu jahl, umaya and others umar(ra)asks him how can the dead hear to which the prophet(saw) replies that they can hear but cannot reply.kindly answer my question with detail

Praise be to Allaah.

1 – What is mentioned in the question, that the dead do not hear anything that the living say is true and is correct. Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings):

“but you cannot make hear those who are in graves”

[Faatir 35:22]

“So verily, you (O Muhammad) cannot make the dead to hear”

[al-Room 30:52]

2 – The belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah is that there is torment and punishment in the grave and life in al-barzakh (the interval between death and the Day of Resurrection), and there is blessing and pleasure, according to the status of the deceased. The evidence for that is the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon. And on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): ‘Cause Fir‘awn’s (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!’”[Ghaafir 40:46]

Allaah states here that the people of Pharaoh are exposed to torment morning and afternoon even though they are dead. From this aayah, the scholars affirmed that the torment of the grave is real.

Ibn Katheer said:

This aayah is the main basis of the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah in the torment of al-barzakh, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon” [Ghaafir 40:46].

(Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 4/82)

According to the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray in his salaah (prayer), “Allaahumma inni a’oodhu bika min ‘adhaab il-qabr, wa a’oodhu bika min fitnat il-maseeh il-dajjaal, wa a’oodhu bika min fitnat il-mahyaa wa fitnat il-mamaat, Allaahumma ini a’oodhu bika min al-ma’tham wa’l-maghram (O Allaah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave, I seek refuge in You from the tribulation of the Dajjaal, I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death, O Allaah, I seek refuge in You from sin and loss).”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 798; Muslim, 589)

The relevant point in this hadeeth is that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to seek refuge with Allaah from the torment of the grave. This is one of the pieces of evidence that confirm the torment of the grave. No one disputed the torment of the grave apart from the Mu’tazilah and some other groups who are not worth paying attention to.

3 – With regard to the hadeeth which describes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) addressing the dead bodies of the mushrikeen on the day of the battle of Badr, it is to be understood that this was a unique case, where Allaah brought them back to life so that His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) might rebuke them and humiliate them.

(a) It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood over the well of Badr [into which the bodies of the mushrikeen had been thrown] and said, ‘Have you found the promise of your Lord to be true?’ Then he said, ‘They can hear what I am saying now.’”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3980; Muslim, 932)

(b) It was narrated that Abu Talhah said: “ ‘Umar said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, why are you speaking to bodies that have no souls?’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you do not hear what I am saying any better than they do.’” Qutaadah said: Allaah brought them back to life so that they could hear what he was saying, so that they might be rebuked and feel regret and shame.

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3976; Muslim, 2875. See Fath al-Baari, 7/304)

The relevant point here is that Allaah caused the people in the well to hear the words of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so that they might be humiliated. But it is not correct to deduce from this hadeeth that the dead can hear everything, because this applied only to the people in the well. Some scholars made an exception and said that the dead can hear the salaam, but this is a view for which clear sound evidence is lacking.

4 – According to the most correct scholarly view, the torment of the grave befalls both the soul and the body.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“The view of the salaf (earliest generations) of this ummah and its imams is that the torment or blessing (of the grave) happens to the soul of the deceased and his body. After it departs from the body, the soul continues to be blessed or punished, and it is also connected to the body from time to time, so that the blessing or torment befalls the body as well as the soul.”

So we must believe in that which Allaah has told us.

(al-Ikhtiyaaraat al-Fiqhiyyah, p. 94)

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

Shaykh al-Islam (Ibn Taymiyah) was asked about this matter, and we will quote his reply in full:

“Indeed, the torment and blessing happen to both the soul and the body, according to the consensus of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah. The soul is blessed or tormented separately from the body, and it is blessed or tormented in connection with the body. The body is connected to it, so in this case the blessing or torment happens to them both, and it may happen to the soul separately from the body.

The view of the salaf and imams of this ummah is that when a person dies, he will be in a state of blessing or torment, and that happens to his soul and his body. After the soul has departed from the body, it remains in a state of blessing or torment, and that is sometimes connected to the body and the blessing or torment happens to them both. Then when the Day of Resurrection comes, the souls will be returned to their bodies and they will rise from their graves to meet the Lord of the Worlds. The physical resurrection is a matter upon which the Muslims, Jews and Christians are agreed.”

(al-Rooh, p. 51, 52)

The scholars likened that to dreams when one is asleep, for a person may dream that he is going and traveling, and he may feel happiness or grief and sorrow while he is sleeping, and that is when he is in his place and in this world. So it is more apt that things should be different in the life of al-barzakh which is completely different from the life of this world and the life of the Hereafter.

Al-Nawawi said:

“If it is said, we see the deceased and how he is in his grave, so how can he be questioned, made to sit up and beaten with iron rods, when no mark is left on him? The answer is that this is not impossible, and indeed there is a similar case in our regular lives, that of the sleeper who feels joy or pain of which we feel nothing. A person who is awake may also feel joy or pain because of something he hears or thinks about, and those who are sitting with him feel nothing of that. Similarly, Jibreel used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and tell him of the Wahy (Revelation), and the people present were unaware of it. All of that is clear and evident.”

(Sharh Muslim, 17/201)

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:

“When a person sleeps, he may feel joy or pain, and that happens to his soul and his body. He may dream that someone is beating him and wake up with pain in his body, or he may dream that he is being fed some good food, then wake up with the food in his mouth. This is something that really happens. If the body and soul of a sleeping person can experience joy and pain that are not felt by the person next to him, and a sleeper may even cry out because of the intensity of pain or fear of what is happening to him, and those who are awake can hear him, and he may speak, reciting Qur’aan or dhikr, or talking to someone, and those who are awake can hear that, even though he is asleep with his eyes closed, and he does not hear them if they speak to him – then how can we deny that the one who is buried in his grave also feels things, when the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has told us that he “hears the sound of their footsteps” and “You do not hear what I say any better than they do”?

The heart is akin to the grave, hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, when he missed ‘Asr on the day of al-Khandaq: “May Allaah fill their hearts and graves with fire.” And Allaah differentiated between them (graves and hearts) in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are poured forth (all mankind is resurrected)?

And that which is in the hearts (of men) shall be made known?”

[al-‘Aadiyaat 100:9-10]

This is just to explain that this could happen.

We cannot say that the blessing or torment that the dead experience is like that which a sleeper experiences when he dreams, rather that blessing or torment is more complete and more far-reaching; it is a real blessing and a real torment. But this example is given to show that this is possible. If someone were to say that the dead person does not move in his grave, and the soil does not change, and so on, this matter may be explained in more detail, but that would take too long to explain here. And Allaah knows best. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

Surely, you make neither the dead hear your call nor the deaf while they are getting away (from you) turning their backs.

According to Muafassireen, in this Ayah, dead means the disbelievers deprived of the vitality of faith.

Can the Prophet pbuh hear those who call upon him?

Some people believe that the Prophet Muhamamd [(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] is "Shaheed" and is in BArzakh where he can hear us if we send 'darood' on him and also if we ask his 'wasta' [by virtue of his closeness to Allah]in praying to God.

Praise be to Allaah.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is alive in his grave in the sense of the life of al-barzakh, so he enjoys the blessings that Allaah has prepared for him as a reward for his great good actions that he did in this world. But the life in the grave is not like the life of this world, or the life in the Hereafter. Rather it is the life of al-barzakh which comes in between his life in this world and his life in the Hereafter. Hence we know that he died as other Prophets and other people before him died. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And We granted not to any human being immortality before you (O Muhammad); then if you die, would they live forever?”

[al-Anbiya’ 21:34]

“Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish.

And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will remain forever”

[al-Rahmaan 55:26,27]

“Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die, and verily, they (too) will die”

[al-Zumar 39:30]

And there are other verses which also indicate that Allaah caused him to die. Moreover, the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) washed him, shrouded him, offered the funeral prayer for him and buried him; if he had been alive in the worldly sense, they would not have done the same as is done for others who die.

Faatimah (may Allaah be pleased with her) asked Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) for her inheritance from her father (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) because she was convinced that he had died, and no one among the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) differed with her concerning that. Rather Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) responded to her request by saying that nothing could be inherited from the Prophets.

The Sahaabah agreed unanimously to choose a khaleefah for the Muslims to succeed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and that was done with the appointment of Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) as khaleefah. If the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had been alive in a worldly sense, they would not have done that. So this indicates that there was consensus among them that he had indeed died.

When the tribulations (fitan) and problems increased during the time of ‘Uthmaan and ‘Ali (may Allaah be pleased with them both), and before and after that, they did not go to his grave to consult him or ask him for a way out of those tribulations and problems, or the way to solve them. If he had been alive in a worldly sense, they would not have overlooked that when they were in such great need of someone to save them from the trials that surrounded them.

With regard to the soul of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), it is in the highest part of ‘Illiyyeen, because he is the best of creation, and because Allaah has given him al-waseelah which is the highest position in Paradise.

The life of al-barzakh is a special life. The Prophets and the shuhada’ (martyrs) are alive in al-barzakh as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Prophets are alive and they pray in their graves.” (Narrated by al-Mundhiri and al-Bayhaqi who classed it as saheeh because of corroborating reports in al-Saheehayn.)

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And say not of those who are killed in the way of Allaah, ‘They are dead.’ Nay, they are living, but you perceive (it) not”

[al-Baqarah 2:154]

This is a special life, the nature of which is known to Allaah. It is not like the life of this world in which the soul remains with the body.

The basic principle concerning the dead is that they do not hear the words of the living sons of Adam, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“but you cannot make hear those who are in graves”

[Faatir 35:22]

Allaah confirmed that those whom he (the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)) was calling to Islam could not hear, by likening them to the dead. There is nothing in the Qur’aan or in the saheeh Sunnah to indicate that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) can hear every du’aa’ or call from human beings. Rather it is proven that the only thing that reaches him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is the blessings and salaams of those who send blessings and salaams upon him. This was narrated by Abu Dawood, 2041, with a hasan isnaad from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no one who sends salaams upon me but Allaah will restore to me my soul so that I may return his salaams.” This does not mean that he hears the words of the one who sends salaams. Rather it is possible that he comes to know of those salaams when the angels convey that to him. If we assume that he hears the words of the one who sends salaams, this is an exception from the general rule, as in the case of the dead hearing the footsteps of those who carry his bier, and as in the case of the slain kuffaar in the well at Badr who heard the call of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) when he said to them: “Have you found your Lord’s promise to be true? For we have found our Lord’s promise to be true.” (See Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 1/313, 318, 321).

With regard to calling upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and asking him directly, this is the essence of shirk which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was sent to forbid and to fight against its people. For more details on the ruling on that, see Question no. 10289, 11402, 1439. We ask Allaah to bring the Muslims back to the right path. And Allaah knows best. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon his Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

The Nature of Life in the Grave

Friend of Wali Allah

Such news is not surprising for those who are called Allah's friend or "WaliAllah" there are many all over the world living or passed away Islamic history is full of them. To understand such miracle one need to be student of Spiritual guidance, the education received from Prophet s.a.s by companions sitting at "Suffa" in Masjid-e- Nabwi Sharief at Madinah. There are cadre of people who progress in respective spiritual education and guidance. They can be still meeting such pious people like Kizr Alaih Salaam; as one can seek knowledge from Holly Quran- Chapter Khahaf. In short, there are scholars in this world who visit often such personalities either in person if living in this world otherwise to their place of rest in this world called grave of WaliAllah as mark of respect, as they have been loved by Allah s.w.t. Such visits to saintly people were made adverse publicity by some uneducated so called Muslims / Sects tainting them as grave worshippers which are totally absurd........I wish they correct themselves and seek Islamic spiritual knowledge before fighting war with Allah. S.w.t for speaking false against Allah’s Wali (friends).
