Five persons, including three women were killed and eight injured, two of them seriously, when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a goods van at Nyalkal mandal in the district early today. According to police here, the ill-fated autorickshaw, carrying 13 people, was proceeding to Mamidigi from Zahirabad was hit by a goods van coming in opposite direction on Zahirabad-Bidar National Highway in Nyalkal mandal, resulting in the mishap. The deceased were identified as K Raju (28), Seemoon (28), Bathamma (45), Lashmamma (50) and Ratnamma (55). All the injured were shifted to a hospital at Zahirabad, police added.
