Allama Iqbal’s death anniversary observed

Islamabad, April 21: Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal floated the ides of a welfare state and democracy, said Justice (r) Dr Javed Iqbal.

He was addressing the Iqbal Day function at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) as the chief guest on Tuesday.

He said Islam was strictly against the monarchy and dictatorship, as democracy was the only the acceptable ruling system. He said unfortunately neither the suggestions of Islamic Ideological Council (IIC) had been presented in the parliament for debate nor the religious leaders had taken steps for Islamic legislation.

Defining the term secularism, he said Islam gave everyone the freedom of worship according to his belief and religion and fundamental rights to pass his life according to religious civil laws.

Justice Iqbal said they should pay more attention to prose than the poetry of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal to find solution to the problems of according to the present era.
