Allotment of land to American Consulate is still pending

Hyderabad, December 17:

(Siasat News) Land could not be allotted in Gachi Bowli area to American Consulate so far. This office was to be shifted to Gachi Bowli area by the end of 2011. There are no indications that the lands would be allotted to American Consulate in the near future.

A lease agreement was signed on 22nd July 2011 for acquiring the property but so far land has not been earmarked. Govt. of A.P. had made an announcement in 2008 that American Consulate will function temporarily in Paigah Palace and after three years land would be allotted. This announcement of state Govt. has become the laughing stock. Govt. had agreed to lease out 12 acres of land but so far nothing has been done in this regard. Officials of the consulate are happy that they will be in the city for a few more years but the employees of Hyderabad Metropolitian Development Authority are irritated.

It is reported that construction work is likely to start somewhere in the middle of 2014. It is estimated that 6 to 8 yeas time is needed for the completion of the American Consulate Building.
