January 26:

New Delhi, January 26: Mozart of Madras, AR Rahman has done it again. The list of nominations for the world’s most revered award show – the Academy awards just got out and news has it that Indian musical maestro has earned two nominations for the Academy Awards to be held on 27 Feb this year.

For the film ‘127 Hours’, Rahman bagged nominations for the Best Original Score and Best Soundtrack. The film, directed by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ famed Danny Boyle, has earned wide scale appreciation at various film festivals and was even nominated under different categories at the recently held Golden Globes and Producers Guild Awards.

Rahman, the only Indian to score two Oscars, is in the Academy shortlist again in the Best Song category for ‘If I Rise’, collaborating with British singer Dido.

His music in `127 Hours`, starring James Franco as real-life mountain climber Aron Ralston, who cut off his arm to escape from beneath a boulder after being trapped for more than five days, had received good reviews for it`s haunting tracks and wonderful crescendos.
