January 29:

New Delhi, January 29: Training his guns at BCCI secretary N Srinivasan, former IPL chairman Lalit Modi today blamed dirty Cricket Board politics for Eden Gardens'loss of India-England World Cup match on February 27.

"This tweet is my protest at shifting of Ind-Eng match from the Eden Gardens,"Modi said.

"Sorry to see politics again -take away matches from Kolkata. I had restored them when I chaired the tours and fixtures committee. Thou secretary opposed it. Once again dirty tricks department wants to alienate the Fans,"wrote the former BCCI vice-president on his'Twitter'page.

Eden Gardens was stripped of the India-England match by the International Cricket Council following an adverse report from its venue inspection team that visited Kolkata.

The BCCI has appealed to the ICC to reconsider the decision and give time till February 7 to complete work at the Eden Gardens.

ICC chief Sharad Pawar has asked his CEO Haroon Lorgat to talk to member countries, especially England, whether they agree to BCCI's request and a submit a report on January 30.

Besides the India-England encounter, Eden Gardens is had been alloted three more games - South Africa vs Ireland (March 15), the Netherlands vs Ireland (March 18), and Zimbabwe vs Kenya (March 20).
