February 01:

Tirupati, February 01: There was confusion when a dead body found in the Agraharam tank at Renugunta was suspected to be that of Bhanu Kiran, prime accused in the murder of Maddelacheruvu Suri.

However, police said that it might not be Bhanu's. CID officials said measurements of the body did not match Bhanu's and even by looks, it did not resemble the accused. They, however, said they were trying to match the moles and height of the body with Bhanu's known description.

But as the body was in a decomposed state, it could not be verified without DNA tests, said Renugunta DSP Naik. He felt that judging by height and weight of Bhanu as per records, it appeared that the body found was not his.

Police said that DNA examination would take some time. Police are trying to identify the body if it was not that of Bhanu Kiran. (NSS)
