The city police were shocked to find a bomb at Mangalhat near Puranapul on Saturday. They found 12 detonators under the seat of a scooter parked at the spot.
On receipt of the information, bomb squad personnel rushed to the spot and defused the bomb. The police were inquiring about the suspects in the area.
City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, who sounded high alert after the hoax bomb call to Saifabad police station, has said the police were vigorously continuing searches in the Old City as it became sensitive after the arrest of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.
Anurag Sharma said they have thoroughly searched the Assembly premises following a phone call to the Saifabad Police Station today about planting of a bomb. He said bomb squad and dog squad were pressed into service and the phone call turned out to be a hoax on the police.
Police said they were trying to ascertain caller's identity.
In Shahinayatgunj police station limits, a person named Gulabsingh alerted the police about a bomb-like object planted on his parked scooter in the busy Puranapul area.
The bomb disposal squad found out that it was not a bomb but six to seven detonators wrapped in a cloth kept under the seat. There was no explosive material.
