Hyderabad, February 9: It seems that the historical buildings of the twin cities especially those located in old city of Hyderabad are on the mercy of film directors, as no practical measures are being taken either by the government or department of archeology for the protection of historical buildings. However film directors, for shooting of films, make the buildings spectacular by changing its appearance.
The film ‘Tere Naam’ released on 15th of August, 2003 was picturized in city college hence the building was painted by the film director till then the building wore a gray look.
The same is the case with government degree college Husaini Alam. Telugu film director, for the shooting of his film ‘Yavado’, has totally changed the colour of the building.
City college which was established by Nawab Mahboob Ali Khan and was started in 1921 with 30 students. To renovate the building was the responsibility of department of archeology but it remained untouched until film director coloured the building for shooting his film, changing its original appearance.
Similarly Dewdi Khursheed Jah in which government degree college Husaini Alam is located, is in very precarious condition. Though the building is registered under the 3rd grade cultural heritage of archeology, yet no measures have been taken to whitewash or repair the building.
Presently shooting is being done for a new Telugu film inside the building, for which the producer claims that he has taken permission from the concerned department. But the officials say that they have not given permission to change the original appearance of the building.
