The judgement pronounced in the case of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali’s Wakf Land situated at Manikonda is adefeat of the Govt. and the Capitalists and a victory of Urdu Journalism.
Urdu Journalism, especially Siasat, Munsif and Rahnuma-e-Deccan campaigned jointly for the restoration of Wakf Property. The Capitalists lost their night sleeps of several days.
Instead of rectifying the defects Govt. resorted to threaten Urdu editors to dislodge them from the campaign. No tactics or threats did work with the Urdu editors. They didn’t fall prey to their greed or threats.
Govt. threatens Urdu Editors
After gaining landslide victory. The Congress Govt. thought none can harm it and nobody would be dare enough to question them. Irritated by the campaign of the Urdu editors, Govt. tried in vain to keep them away from this campaign. Then the political advisor of the late CM Mr. K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao invited the Urdu editors for negotiations.
Mr. Zahed Ali Khan, Mr. Zaheeruddina Ali Khan, Mr. Amer Ali Khan (Siasat) Mr. Khan Lateef Mohammed Khan (Munsif) and Mr. Syed Vicaruddin (Rehnuma-e-Deccan) went for negotiations. Instead of arranging the meeting with the CM. Mr. Ramachandra Rao himself started talking to the Urdu editors. During the conversation, he started threatening them.
He was trying to make believe that Manikonda Jagir Property is a Govt. land and the attempts of Urdu newspapers to prove it Wakf land is wrong. He also expressed displeasure over the campaign of Urdu editors to support the cause of the innocent Muslim youths implicated in fabricated and false cases in connection with bomb blasts of Makkah Masjid. He told that these youths are terrorists and police has concrete proofs against them.
He threatened the Urdu editors to refrain from campaigning in support of these Muslim youths. Perhaps he might have thought that the Urdu editors would be impressed by the position he commands with the Govt. Urdu editors, exhibiting their integrity with the Muslim Ummah did not pay heed to his threats and they categorically declared and made it clear that they won’t stop their campaign and they will not compromise on the interests of the Muslims.
Guaging the strong determination of Urdu editors, he did not deem it fit to arrange a meeting with the CM. perturbed by the campaign of the Urdu editors, the Central leadership of Congress sent her special emissary Mr. Ahmed Patel to Hyderabad to meet Urdu editors. After meeting Urdu editors, Mr. Ahmed Patel invited Urdu editors to New Delhi to represent the case personally to Dr. Manmohan Singh and Ms. Sonia Ganhi. During the course of meeting with Ms. Sonia Gandhi Mr. Zahid Ali Khan and Mr. Syed Vicaruddin produced files pertaining to the Wakf Property of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali and Huzarath Baba Sharfuddin where LANCO Hills and Rajiv Ganhdi International Airport were being constructed respectively. The Urdu editors proved these lands as Wakf properties with the help of concrete evidences.
Urdu editors requested Ms. Sonia Gandhi either to give back these properties to Wakf Board or make Wakf Board partner in the profits of LANCO Hills to the extent of 50%. In the case of Airport also they desired partnership in its income.
Ms. Sonia Gandhi very skillfully told that she would study these files carefully and would try to find out an amicable solution. She told the editors to postpone their campaign for about two to three months. She did not take any action.
Very treacherously she came to Hyderabad and inaugurated Rajiv Gandhi Airport and went back to New Delhi quietly. She forgot the promise she had made to the Urdu editors. She didn’t utter a single word about it on the occasion of the inaugural function of the Airport.
In this way, Congress leadership cheated the Muslims but the judgement of AP High Court got the victory for the Urdu editors.
