ECIL Observes Vigilance Awareness Week-2014

On the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week-2014, Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), invited a distinguished personality, R Sri Kumar, IPS (Retd), former Vigilance Commissioner, Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi to deliver the key note address on “Combating Corruption – Technology as an enabler” R. Sri Kumar, in his address, emphasized the need for ensuring transparency and probity and also advised and gave examples of usage of technology to combat corruption. He further talked about the positive and participative vigilance wherein by involving employees in vigilance activities much could be achieved as CVO’s and CVC being small organisations cannot tackle the entire problem by themselves. He also talked about how adopting appropriate vigilance measures and usage of Information Technology have brought about in a sea-change in Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation where he had worked as Director (Vigilance) and later as its Managing Director. KSRTC transformed itself from a loss-making one to a profitable organisation.
Dr. M. Surya Prakash, Chief Vigilance Officer, ECIL in his welcome address talked about the significance of observing vigilance awareness week and the measures taken in ECIL to promote public awareness. (NSS)
