FB craze on School kids, Gurgaon Police deactivates 1200

The Gurgaon police had a unique task at hand; they kept the school students up to class 10th away from Facebook and alert them about the cyber crimes.

The staff and students of 23 schools in the Cyber City are working as a team with the police on this.

According to local police, because of Facebook the students get distracted and they unwittingly may fall into trouble because of lack of awareness on cyber crime. In six days, more than 1200 accounts of students have been deactivated with the help police.

Previously, a survey conducted by a private research firm from Delhi on 1000 kids in 12 schools found that the academic performance of students without a Facebook account was 15-20 per cent better than the students who did not have social media accounts.

Schools in DLF, Sushant Lok, Sohna Road, Sector 56, Sector 43, Old Gurgaon are work as a team with the police on this drive of cyber safety. DPS, Lotus Valley, Ajanta Public School, Sri Ram, Shiv Naeer, Blue Bells, CCA schools are among the 23 schools.

A cyber expert Rakshit Tandon is also included by the police to help alert the students. The kids and their caretakers/ guardian both are made aware about cyber crime and the punishments associated with it in this drive.
School principals too have given stern orders to keep their kids away from social sites.

Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said: “Social sites are necessary, but the kids end up doing wrong things there. This drive to make them aware of the dangers.”
