Nizamabad, December 16: A tribal money-lender “confiscated” the wife of the borrower after the latter failed to repay a loan he had taken.
The money-lender also threatened the borrower, another tribal belonging to the banjara (nomadic) community, that he would sell the woman for Rs 50,000 if he did not cough up the principal amount along with interest immediately.
Allolla Chiranjeevi (35) of Vaddepalli under Edapalli mandal had borrowed Rs 19,000 from money-lender Bakkanna of Nakkalagutta village in Korutla mandal in Karimnagar district. Bakkana also happens to be Chiranjeevi’s distant relative.
The loan was taken by Chiranjeevi for the construction of his house six months ago and he had assured Bakkanna that he would repay the loan by working for the latter.
Unfortunately, Chiranjeevi’s 32-year-old wife Mamatha, 32, and mother Bhudevi (50) fell ill. Chiranjeevi returned to Vaddepalli a few months ago and did not return to work. Chiranjeevi claimed that he had repaid a part of the loan and promised that he would repay the remaining shortly.
An angry Bakkanna came to Vaddepalli 13 days ago and forcibly took away Mamatha. When his mother tried to thwart the attempt, Bakkanna pushed her, Chiranjeevi alleged at a press conference on Thursday.
The money-lender also threatened him on phone to pay the principal and interest immediately or else he would sell away the woman for Rs 50,000 to recover the money, Chiranjeevi alleged. Chiranjeevi filed a complaint on November 30, but no action was taken.
However, after Thursday’s press conference, the Edapalli police station immediately jumped into action and arrested Bakkanna and rescued Mamatha from his clutches.

Is the cycle repeating.....
Something amazing, this was the practice in the stone age. How come this money lender thought that stone age practices can be carried out these day. This culprit should be subjected to severe punishment....
