January 11:

Hyderabad, January 11: HYDERABAD’S historic Charminar has found a proud place in Earth Platinum , the world’s largest atlas which entered the Guinness Book of World Records much before the completion of its publication.

This is the only picture from India to be featured in the atlas, which is also the world’s largest book, being published by Millennium House, the publisher from Sydney established by Gordon Cheers.

Measuring an incredible six ft in length and nine ft in breadth, Earth Platinum , a limited edition, has 128 pages and weighs 120 kg and is bound by hand. “ It will represent the best available of the world's latest technology, cartography, and photography,” the publisher said.

The “ gigapan” image of Charminar, shot by Hyderabad- based photographer D Ravinder Reddy, was selected among thousands of pictures from India. “ Our book is the better ( sic) for including your image of Charminar,” Gordon Cheers said, in a congratulatory message to Reddy.
