Hyderabad, August 26: Tension prevailed near a place of worship in Picket area after unidentified intruders broke into it and set some of the articles on the premises on fire on Thursday.
The incident took place in the place of worship located in a small area at Picket.
The authorities closed the premises on Wednesday night around 7 p.m.
but when they came on Thursday around 1 p.m., they found that the place had been broken into.
“They found the door lock broken and the articles inside were burnt down,” Mahankali division assistant commissioner of police G P Vasu Sena said.
Though the fire was suspected to be set on particular articles, it spread and burnt down some cloth and other materials there too.
No security guard was posted to guard the premises making it easy for intruders to enter.
People belonging to a particular community from Kerala visit the place of worship.
“There was a dispute between the locals and the authorities of the place of worship when it was constructed four years back.
But the issue was settled later,” Vasu Sena said.
