October 21:

Tehran, October 21: “Iran will keep resisting US unjust policies and will not back away from its right to use nuclear energy,” IRNA quoted Saffari as saying at the Complutense University of Madrid on Wednesday.

The Iranian envoy dismissed allegations that Iran was seeking a covert military nuclear program and said the accusations were part of a psychological warfare against the Islamic Republic.

Iran is seeking peaceful nuclear technology and was the first country to propose the establishment of a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East, he said.

Saffari further pointed out that the US was seeking to falsify facts regarding Iran's nuclear program in an attempt to advance its policy of Iranophobia in the world and to pile up pressure on the country.

Iran's nuclear program has been politicized by the United States, he went on to say.

The envoy also rejected sanctions against the country's nuclear program and said that despite sanctions, the volume of trade between Iran and European countries has been increased by 20 percent during the past six months.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) adopted the fourth round of sanctions against Tehran in June under intense US campaign claiming that Iran's nuclear program may have potential military applications.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, in its various reports of the country's nuclear program, has confirmed Iran's non-diversion toward declared nuclear material.

Iran describes both the UNSC and unilateral US sanctions as illegal, insisting that it has the right to pursue peaceful nuclear technology under the NPT, to which it is a signatory.
