Iran tells Gulf states not to buy 'ineffective' US missiles

Tehran, February 05: A senior Iranian military official told Gulf states on Thursday not to squander money on US missiles, adding that Iran can render them useless, the state news agency IRNA reported.

Tehran had on Wednesday slammed plans by the United States to beef up its military in the Gulf.

"Installing anti-missile Patriot missiles is a new trick to empty the pockets of rich Persian Gulf countries," said General Hassan Firuzabadi, the joint chief of staff of Iran's armed forces.

"Patriot missiles can be rendered ineffective by simple tactics, and I advise the regional countries, especially Muslim states, not to waste their money on these missiles which have not worked anywhere," he said.

US President Barack Obama's administration is reportedly placing ships with missile-targeting capabilities off Iran's coast, and anti-missile systems in at least four Gulf states -- Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

US ally Bahrain acknowledged on Wednesday that Gulf military defences were being upgraded but urged Iran not to see them as plans for attack.

An Iranian Revolutionary Guards official also said on Wednesday that Iran had developed anti-armor weapons which can combat US Apache helicopters and armored tanks.

"The enemy should not think their Apache helicopters can have the same power that they have in Iraq and Afghanistan in Iran," Naser Arab-beigi, who heads the self-sufficiency organization of the Revolutionary Guards, told Fars news agency.

"We will end Apache power by our measures. Their armored tanks will be met with the firm response of our weapons," he said.

it is a dooms day for Gulf states if war starts between Israel and Iran.but, of course not this year. Israels doing rigorus
training this year and planed an attack against Iran next
year some what June 2011.Israel not only planed to attack Iran , but also planed murdering many Iranian intellects.

USA

war with iran in unlikely

There is too much business and investment going on in this region for a war with Iran to be likely to happen. (don't buy their missiles buy OURS!)I think all this rhetoric does is increase military spending on both sides. Both countries defense industries don't care as long as they stay in business. Plus, the US is too bankrupt to go to war with Iran so I doubt they'll get to test anything on the Apaches like those insane idiot guards would like to do.

silly stuff

a vague comment that is clearly a bluff against the west

silly iranians

Aknamenijad or however you spell it, also said their astronauts are better than any other on the planet. One missile with vermin makes them the best astronauts?Soviet union did it in 1964.Now on to the matter.Fear makes people do crazy things and say crazy things. If no one fought, then there would be no need to fear any neighboring brother. On top of that, religions that force themselves on others shouldn't be messed with, because usually that means instability with the collected followers. No other way is true but the way of that religious lord or prophet. The entire middle east has been in religious bouts since history first started being recorded. The new emperors in no fancy clothing are just repeating history.Shame on us all.

politics for money

We heard that,it is a good idea to buy a gun,as long as crime is rising on my street,i did so.I just heard, that the store, selling guns on the street, accused by police, for crimes showdowns.

Oh please...

Empty rhetoric from an empty regime. Iran can barely build anything of value let alone stop advanced weaponry. The gulf states have a good reason to be weary of this unstable regime and a few anti-missile systems would not hurt.
