KCR seeks accurate land data for distribution to Dalits from Aug. 15

Expressing serious concern over successive governments indulging in corrupt practices and looting public money through false implementation of welfare schemes, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao today said it is shame on the part of the governments securing wrong data and bogus details.

Speaking at a meeting for Comprehensive Household Surveys at HICC here, the Chief Minister said the TRS government would start distributing land to Dalits from August 15 and cover all districts in a phased manner by collecting accurate details of people with ration cards, land, assets and others.

To check the irregularities and corruption occurred in all departments during the Congress regime a comprehensive survey was needed, he said. The government will press its machinery to conduct a single-day survey to collect accurate details.

Emphasizing the need for conducting proper social survey with accurate data related to people in general and beneficiaries in particular, the Chief Minister asked the officials concerned to prepare a list from rural to town level to cater to their respective needs. Accusing his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu of creating panic on various issues including fees reimbursement and nativity, KCR said he would implement FAST to help Telangana students only. The TRS government would plug all loopholes in the system and implement welfare schemes to help poor and deprived classes.

Assuring that he would fulfill all manifesto promises, including three acres land to SCs and ration cards to the eligible families, KCR said about Rs 3 lakh would be spent on construction of houses for poor. KCR alleged that during 10-year Congress rule, State’s economy collapsed and improper economic and social survey was the main cause for the failure of welfare schemes like Arogyasri, distribution of white ration cards to the poor families and tuition fee reimbursement to the students. No department gave same data of the beneficiaries of a particular scheme, he observed. This sort of confusion should be wiped out only when the employees from rural to towns and cities submit accurate reports comprising genuine details.
“As our ultimate aim is to improve the living standards of SCs, poor and deprived classes, it is appropriate time for collective efforts”, KCR said. He took exception to the colleges vying for minting money by false means, while for lakh households in Telangana region there were 1.7 crore ration cards, including 91 lakh white ration cards. The government has to bear about Rs 4,000 crore for fees reimbursement, he said, adding justice will be done to Telangana students.
By violating norms, many “bogus” colleges claimed fees without having faculty and infrastructure, he flayed. “The government would not spare any such misgivings as we are prepared to give fees to our TS students only and least bothered about AP students, which is the headache of Chandrababu Naidu.
There are about 12 lakh Dalits in Telangana including three lakh in urban areas, he said, adding that “Our Government would give them three acres land, a bore-well with pump set and electricity connection”. He also said they would take steps to waive the registration charges for Dalit lands and would keep its promise of SC welfare by spending about Rs 2000 crores. He further explained that Telangana has about 20 lakh acres of waste land and investors would be encouraged to set up their shops and provide employment to locals and skilled persons. The district Collectors and administration should work in tandem to wipe out fake certificates and collect correct data, he said. (NSS)
