King of Saudi Arabiya Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz warned against 'seditions' while addressing the commanders and officers of the security forces and scouts serving in this years’ Muslim pilgrimage of hajj.
He said 'seditions' that threaten the sovereignty of the nation, and called on the security forces to be prepared to safeguard the security of the Kingdom, home to Islam’s holiest sites and is the world’s largest oil producer, According to a report published in Al-Arabiya.net on Saturday.
The king referred to “the enemies of the nation” as waiting to grab the opportunity to destabilize the kingdom.
“You are our nation’s shield after Allah. No doubt, you are aware of the state through which our region is passing currently. The Ummah’s enemies are waiting in ambush for your nation. They have no other goal but to disrupt our nation’s safety and unity, which were achieved with the struggles of King Abdul Aziz and your forefathers, may Allah be pleased with them,” the king said at a reception in Mecca to celebrate the Muslim sacrifice feast of Eid al-Adha
“We are surrounded by seditions which can only be deterred by depending on Allah the Almighty and standing in the face of whoever contemplates tampering with the security, unity and sovereignty of our country. Therefore, we should shoulder our responsibility,” the Saudi monarch said.
Millions of Muslims worldwide are currently performing the annual hajj pilgrimage in Mecca and Saudi Arabia has deployed thousands of security forces to ensure the safety and security of the ritual, which comes amid regional stability in Syria and growing tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
“The Haj security forces and support forces have executed all the security plans prepared in advance and have succeeded in creating a safe environment for the millions of pilgrims to perform their rites comfortably,” said Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, director general of the Public Security and chairman of the security committee.
