December 17:

Four-time Congress MP from Eluru, Sambasiva Rao, today said that the party was appointing newcomers and defectors from other parties to important posts. He was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a meeting of Students Joint Action Committee for United Andhra Pradesh at Acharya Nagarjuna University campus. Loyal Congressmen were getting a raw deal, he said. "I commanded more respect when TDP was in power," he added. Rao had resigned as Lok Sabha MP to protest appointment of D Purandareswari as Minister of State for Commerce. The resignation was yet to be accepted by the Speaker, he said. PTI
