His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Dubai Municipality on Tuesday where he was briefed on a number of projects proposed for implementation by the municipality during the current year.

Shaikh Mohammed was accompanied by Crown Prince of Dubai Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum and other officials.

Director-General of the Dubai Municipality Engineer Hussein Nasser Lootah, other engineers and specialists gave a detailed presentation on the projects.

Shaikh Mohammed listened to the briefing on an innovative initiative by the Dubai Municipality, encouraging all government employees in the emirate to go to work on Wednesday using public transport and the Dubai Metro.

Shaikh Mohammed praised the initiative as a contribution of the Dubai Municipality to environmental protection.

Shaikh Mohammed also viewed the designs of a massive housing project for citizens that will be built in phases on 50,000 plots in Deira and Bur Dubai. The houses have been designed according to high engineering specifications to ensure comfortable living for the citizens.

Engineer Lootah said the municipality has enough plots in various parts of the emirate to build houses as per the directives of Shaikh Mohammed for providing suitable houses for every citizen, both men and women, now and in future.

The current project will benefit 1,200 national families. Each three-storeyed villa will have gardens and play areas for children as well as other amenities.
