The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen(MIM) has won the by-election to the Borabanda municipal division of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
MIM candidate Bhanumathi defeated her nearest rival Raziya Sultana of Congress by a margin of 1484 votes. While Bhanumathi secured 5,241 votes, Raziya Sultana got 3,957 votes while the TDP candidate Kavitha stood third with 2,655 votes.
It may be mentioned that by-elections to the Borabanda division were necessitated after the then corporator Vanaja was disqualified for violating the two-child norm. (INN)
