Minister not accused in Liquor Scam: CM

Hyderabad, February 25:

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly today witnessed acrimoniouis scenes over the liquor syndicate scam with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy stoutly defending Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana and stating he had not committed any crime and had not been made an accused. Replying during a heated debate on the issue in which personal charges were freely traded by both the Opposition and Treasury Benches, Mr Reddy declared the documents available with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had not named Mr Ramana even after taking into account the confessional statement of liquor trader Nunna Ramana. However, Mr Reddy said 'there is possibility of anything happening in future as the ACB court was seized of the matter.'
