The EME Sailing Association and the Secunderabad Club jointly announced the series of events scheduled for the launch of “The 29th Laser National Sailing Championship 2014”, also popularly known as the “Hyderabad Sailing Week”, being conducted from July 15 to 19 at the picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao will be the chief guest for the opening ceremony on July 15. Etela Rajender, Finance Minister, will be Guest of honour. This is one of the biggest sailing events that the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad hosts and is also the biggest inland National sailing event in the country.
The calendar of events includes a coaching camp for participants from all over the country from July 12 to 14, inauguration ceremony at 8 am on July 15 and prize distribution at 5.00 on July 19. All these events would be hled at the EME sailing Club Venue and Secunderabad Sailing Club Annexe.
Maj Gen Sanjeev Khanna, the Vice-president, Laser class Association of India said, “Hyderabad is popular destination for the Laser National Sailing Championship. The wind conditions in July are more favorable into Hussain Sagar Lake and being an Inland water lake, sailing is more visible to the people of the twin cities. The eco-friendly sport is getting popular day by day and this year the number of participants has increased to 115.
