Nepal quake death toll crosses 7,500

The death toll from the April 25 deadly earthquake in Nepal has crossed 7,500 after the country saw a fresh tremor of magnitude 4.0 on Tuesday.

The death toll has risen to 7,557 while the number of injured has reached 14,536, according to reports.

Nepal has experienced many aftershocks since the 7.9 magnitude quake.

According to National Seismological Centre chief Lok Bijaya Adhikari, there have been 143 aftershocks measuring greater than 4.0 magnitude on the richter scale.

The epicenter of the feeble tremor on Tuesday was the border of Dhading and Nuwakot districts, said Adhikari.

According to a report by the United Nation’s humanitarian agency, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), “as on May 4, the earth quake has destroyed 1,91,058 homes and damaged 1,75,162 homes” (ANI)
