February 02:

Patna, Februry 02: JD(U) spokesman Shivanand Tiwari Thursday said there was "no substance or strength" in Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal's statement defending the 2G spectrum allocation case.

"There is no strength in Kapi Sibal's defence on the issue," Tiwari told reporters here.

Earlier, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal dismissed the view that the Supreme Court's judgement cancelling 122 2G licences was an indictment.

He said the government will move forward in the issue after regulator TRAI make its recommendations.

"There is no indictment of the Prime Minister or the then Finance Minister (P Chidambaram) in the Supreme Court's judgement. If there is any indictment it is the 2003 policy (first-come, first-serve) of the NDA government and we only followed it," Sibal told a press conference in Delhi after the Supreme Court judgement on the issue.

Hailing the Supreme Court's verdict cancelling allocation of 2G spectrum, Tiwari said "it proves beyond doubt that there has been a mega-scam and irregularities in allocation."

The party spokesman said a detailed statement would be given later after going through the verdict.
