Hyderabad, January 25: It is that time of the year when the entire Purana Shaher is enveloped by the colour green as Muslims in the City gear up to celebrate Milad-un-Nabi. Enter Old City and every by-lane is dotted with green flags and decorative lights with fliers and posters floating around.
The festival is celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety. The day is marked with processions, public meetings and feeding of the poor. However, locals say that with various sects and schools mushrooming in Hyderabad, the way of celebrating has also changed.
Lost traditions
“We believe in celebrating the festival in a simple way. The Prophet(PBUH), who lived a simple life, did not encourage huge celebrations. However, these days, more than practising the religion, expressing it has increased. Earlier, Milad-Un-Nabi used to be a low-key affair with only small processions being taken out. However, with various political parties pitching in, the festival is now celebrated on a grand scale. There used to be about 50 to 100 people in each procession earlier. But now the number is over 20,000,” said Mohammed Asif Khan, who runs a family business selling Kashmiri apparel in Old City.
Like every year, thousands of people will participate in the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations this time too. However, society elders believe that as per the Shariat (the body of doctrines that regulate the lives of those who practice Islam), only festivities that do not harm others can be carried out.
Many have a different view about how Milad-un-Nabi should be celebrated since the Prophet’s (PBUH) birth and death occurred on the same day; people should neither celebrate nor mourn on this day.
Celebration of faith
Every year, the celebration begins at dusk when devotees assemble to offer prayers. Mosques, community halls and other places of worship turn into public venues to gather and recall the preachings of the Prophet(PBUH). Importance of the Prophet’s(PBUH) birth and his teachings are highlighted by Aalims (learned persons).
The biggest procession of the day starts from the Mecca Masjid once the morning prayers are over. After going around Old City, it culminates in a huge public meeting at the Moghalpura playground. Thousands of people participate in the central procession, while smaller processions will continue throughout the day.

It is reported on the authority of `Umar (ra) that the Messenger of
Allah said:
"Do not ex-toll me as the Christians extolled the son of
Maryam (as ); I am no more than a slave (of Allah) and so
(instead), say: Allah's Slave and His Messenger."4
“Said Anas that nobody was more dear to Sahaba than the holy Prophet
(Pbuh). However, the companions never used to stand up in his honour as
they knew that he did not like it.” (Imam Tirmizi, after recording this
tradition has written that this Hadith is Sahih i.e. authentic)
“Reported Abu Umaamah that once the Prophet (Pbuh) came out (of his
home), holding a staff for support. When we stood up in his honour, he
said: Do not stand up like non-Arabs when some of them honour some

Milad un Nabi or Prophets Birthday To Celebrate or Not?
It is not permissible to celebrate Milaadun-Nabee (the birthday of the Prophet (pbuh), nor the birthday of anyone else, since this is from the acts of bid'ah (innovations) that have been newly-invented into the religion. Neither did Allaah's Messenger (Prescribed Laws) [pbuh], nor the Rightly-Guided Khaleefahs (Successors), nor the Companions, may Allaah be please with them all, nor any of their followers from the first three excellent generations, celebrate this day - and they were the most knowledgeable of people concerning the Sunnah (the Prophetic guidance), and had the greatest love for Allaah's Messenger(pbuh) and were the foremost in following his Sharee'ah

What do you mean by Old City or Gold City ????
Can you sketch the line on the map of Hyderabad that shows old city or new city (Extensions). If you are a real Hyderabadi then there is no question of old city or new city ( extension ) . Areas like Sikhanderabad exist before Indian occupied Hyderabad Deccan and Formation of AP. Same way Abid road, Mehdipatnam , BasheerBagh , Hussaini Alam , Towli Chowki , Troopbazaar , Imliban , Masaab Tank , Hyderguda , Noor Khan Bazaar , Begumpet , Musheerabad , Gunfoundry , Nampally , Koti , Asif Nagar , Amirpet , Charminar, LaalTekri , Yakhutpura , Mallepalli , Sanathnagar, Malakpet , Lakdi ka pul , AfzalGung , Carvan , Begum bazaar , Hussain sagar ka Katta , Badi chaowdi etc etc exist at the time of Nizam rule and was developed before Indain occupied Hyderabad ( Police Action September 1948 ). So do not mention old city or new city. If you want to mention then the appropriate word is EXTENSION for areas which came in existence after 1948 are Vengalrao nagar , RT nagar or Blah Blahh guda or nagar. Be educated before writing anything stupid. No offence to anyone, I am trying to educate you or anyone who is arrogant or ignorant.
Another thing which I notice that some so called locals even do not know how to pronounce the name of Hyderabad ( The correct pronunciation is Hai –der – aabaad and NOT Hay – dra – baad )
If you live in Hyderabad after migrating from Districts or Gaon or Talukha of Andhra Pradesh than ACCEPT that you are migrated and it’s very easy for a real Hyderabadi to distinguish when migrants pronounce the name of Hyderabad and some Hyderabadi slang. So do not try to pretend.
Again no offense to anyone, I am mentioning the facts and please do not use incorrect word OLD or NEW like illiterates. I am challenging anyone just to show us by drawing the line on the map of Hyderabad with the sensible clarification like how / why / when / where. He was the most ugliest and filthiest creature India had along side Mirza ghulam qadiyani shaitani. The 2 brothers in the name of Islam have brought great disrepute to Islam.
My brother there was never a concept of Milaad in Islam and will never gain any signicance in Islam Inshaallah. some one said there are only two festival ramazaan and Bakrid,,,, yes... what about Friday, that is called Eid-ul Mummineen..... and in the Quran, Surat al Maidah, chapter no: 5 verse no: 114, translation of verse: Said Jesus, the son of Mary, "O Allah , our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers."
if Prophet Eisa (AS) received sustain from Almighty Allah that is festival for him, he's saying he'll celebrate first and last day as a festival, and when leader of Prophets comes there is no festival...

there is one hadeeth, 1741... Abu Qatada al-Ansari said: while we are with the Messenger of Allah - peace be upon him - I accept it age , he said: O Prophet of God, fasting on Monday,he said: The day I was born... Ibn-e- khuzaimah....

Pls stop misinterpretation of Quraan and Hadees. All of a sudden this interpretations started from Bhukkad Razakhaani Peers whose only aim is to loot the common man of their EEmaan and wealth. I've never seen ur peers spending for this so called celebration. Rather they speak a lot on the significance of spending for Dawat but never spend. Razakhaani peers r fooling innocent muslims pls do not fall into the trap of this nuts and start analysing wat Sahaabaas' Tabaeens' have done Inshaallah u will find the truth.

Check the SAHIH MUSLIM.. "The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam himself glorified his birthday, due to his reply when asked why he fasted on Mondays: "I was born on this day and started receiving the revelation on it." (Muslim). Therefore, he glorified his birthday by fasting on it, and this is a form of celebration."

celebrating ,milad is a bidaat.Because there is no authentic Proof that any sahaba RA. or Tabaeen, or tabe tabaeen ever celebrated milad, and whya we call this as bidaat means because it is celebrated as a reilgious festival and any thing related to religion it must have a dallel from quran and sunnah or form amal of sahaba or tabaeen or tabe tabaeen, do we people today love our prophet as our sahaba loved no no no because sahaba loved prophet more than their life an we just claim not practical.
if sahaba who loved prophet more than their life they never ever celebrated milad how can we........... if anyone have authentic daleel plz show me ok lastly i pray allah to guide us to siraat-e mustaqeem and make us to strictly follow quraan and sunnah and prevent us from these kind of bidaat ameen .......
Milad un Nabi A "Sunnat"
Stop misguiding people, this point have been accepted by all that there is no proof celebrating this eid by Sahabha/tabaeen. When it was celebrated by Prophet(SAWS) Himself, then whats the need of others(to take example(sahabha)).
For tHe word SUNNAH opposite is Bidath. Thats the sufficient proof.
Now if you dont know how Prophet celebrated it. Kindly first get some ILM and then post your comments. Kindly dont go through your Wahabi/Salaf/Alhe-e-hathees books but go through Bukhari and Muslim Shariff. And also dont go through books authored by Al-Shahbani, as he has removed around 400-600 ahadeeths, which dont match with Alhe-e-hadeeths aqeeda.

Prophet Mohammad S.A.W was born in Makkah no one celebrates this Milad un nabi here nor in any Arab countries. We have adopted all this Bidat by looking at the Hindu processions.
Islam forbids this. Our religion is a complete and the Sirat of our beloved prophet is for us to practice not to follow the path of non bilievers this will rather be harmful for us, as any addition, delitioin and modification in the Islamic Rules are not allowed. Preach the beautiful teaching of Islam and follow the Sunnah.
