December 02:

Nagpur, December 02: Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev lashed out at the ruling government for allowing 51 percent FDI in retail sector saying that UPA leaders were speaking like middleman for foreign retail companies like Walmart, Tesco.

Ramdev also criticised prime minister Manmohan Singh saying that he was speaking like the "president of Walmart".

Moreover, the yoga guru expressed concern on farmers and consumers saying that they will be endangered if foreign retail companies are allowed to do business in India. "All this appears to be a conspiracy," he said. Ramdev alleged that the government was trying to distract the people from burning issues like corruption and black money, by introducing FDI in retail sector.

The government's new FDI retail policy to allow 51% foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail segment will permit world's top retail giants like Walmart, Carrefour and Tesco to set up market in the country. Earlier, such retailers were not allowed to do retail business in India.
