IANS) Two people involved in uploading a sex video onto the internet leading to a minor girl committing suicide in Odisha’s Cuttack district have been arrested, police said on Sunday.
The 15-year-old girl, who belonged to Nemala village (70-80 km from here), committed suicide on Wednesday night after coming to know that a sex video featuring her with the prime accused had been uploaded on the internet.
The police have arrested the prime accused and his associate for their involvement in circulating the video on the internet, Cuttack Superintendent of Police (rural) Gurdas Kundu told media persons.
He said four people were involved in the crime.
“While we have arrested two, we are trying to nab the two others,” said Kundu.
Acting on a tip off, a special police team arrested the prime accused from Bhadrak railway station while he was returning from New Delhi on Sunday. His associate was arrested from his village.
Police said the prime accused, a minor, had shot the acts of love-making surreptitiously on a mobile camera and handed over the video to his associates to upload the clip on the internet.
The father of the girl had registered a FIR with police, alleging that the boy had secretly clicked some photographs of the girl while she was taking a bath in the backyard of her house and blackmailed her into having a physical relationship with him.
He had also informed the local village committee. The committee asked the boy, who resided in the same locality, to marry the girl but he refused. This development led to the girl committing suicide by consuming poison.
