Amalapuram, January 29: YSR Congress party spokesperson and MLC Jupudi Prabhakar accused the State Government of having failed to prevent the desecration of Dr Ambedkar's statues in Amalapuram and other places.
Talking to media persons after he was arrested by the East Godavari police on Sunday for trying to visit Amalapuram, Prabhakar said that the government has totally failed to handle the issue which led to unnecessary violence. Claiming that he was visiting Amalapuram to know the latest situation, he condemned the police for arresting him and other activists. Republican Party of India president Bojja Tarakam was also arrested.
Prabhakar said that the he would raise the issue of statues' desecration during the next session of State Legislative Council.
It may be mentioned that the police has already imposed section 144 in Amalapuram and political leaders are being prevented from visiting the trouble-hit town.
