Proper understanding of Islam: Australian Government offers $ 500,000

Julie Bishop, Australian Foreign Minister on Monday announced that the Australian government will contribute $ 500,000 for a new arts and culture education program to build social cohesion and cross cultural understanding, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Islamic Museum of Australia developed the national education program with an aim to propagate proper understanding of Islam amongst children and the general public through Museum’s collection of Islamic art and culture.

This collaboration of Islamic Museum with Australian government exposes the lies peddled by terrorist propaganda that aim to drive a wedge between our harmonious society, Bishop said.

Saudi Arabia has donated $ 1 million in financial support to the Islamic Museum in Australia. Nabil bin Mohammed Al Saleh, Saudi Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand handed over the cheque to Ahmed Alphahor, President of the museum before Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop during a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the founding of the museum in Melbourne on Sunday.

The Museum provides cross cultural and educational experiences that focus on the faith, history and cultural heritage of Islam and the contributions made by Muslims in Australia and across the world.
