September 07:

Mumbai, September 07: Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is going to direct a film that will star his father, mother and him, says a media report. Though it may seem like Ranbir is biting more than he can chew, daddy Kapoor is more than convinced about the film.

On September 4, Rishi celebrated his birthday and said, “Why me and Ranbir together? It has to be Neetu as well.”

While this film is still on the cards, Rishi will be seen with Neetu in debutant director Habib Faizal’s Do Dooni Chal.

“When I suggested to Habib that he take Ranbir as the hero in his film, he said, ‘My protagonist is 54. Does Ranbir look that old to you?’ On second thought, I agreed to play the role.”

Convincing wife Neetu Singh to star with him was a tough task. Rishi says, “My old colleague Juhi Chawla turned down the role because she didn’t want to play mother to a 15-year old boy. So, I told Neetu about the film. She said, ‘Are you mad? I haven’t acted for thirty years. Just because I agreed to do one shot in Love Aaj Kal, tum peeche pad gaye.’ I reasoned with her and convinced her finally.”

As for the family film, Ranbir has made it very clear that he will act with his father only if mom Neetu Singh is also in the film. But directing the veteran actors might be an uphill climb, Ranbir!

Reasons Rishi, “I am not doing any father-son film with Ranbir. They’ve been done to death. We’ve both been approached to work together. But either he rejects the script or I do.”This time, Ranbir wants to produce and direct this film. Says Rishi, “Since my father Raj Kapoor directed his father Prithviraj Kapoor and himself, Ranbir too wants to do the same.”

If that wasn’t enough to continue the family legacy, Rishi is also planning to write an autobiography. He says, “The only problem is, I’ll have to lie a lot in it. I don’t have to cover for any relationships because I’ve never had any (besides Neetu). Still, there are people who might get hurt by what I write; I can’t do what Vyjanthimala did in her autobiography.

She lied in it about her relationship with my father. My brother Randhir and I had borne the brunt of that relationship. How could she lie to the world?”
