January 14:

New Delhi, January 14: From the typical red colour that we saw on the Rajdhani Express trains all over India, now ready to winess a change.

With the help of the Kerala tourism the colour has changed to green. This is for the first time, that Indian Railways is going to change the colour of a Rajdhani. The 'Green' Rajdhani will be flagged off from Nizamuddin station on 17th.

This new train has a new tag line, 'Chalo Kerala' in Hindi and 'Move Kerala' in English in white colour which has been generated by the Kerala tourism. At the exterior side of the train pictures exibhit of beaches, sand, temples, coconut trees, backwaters, boat race, wildlife and art and culture.

The 2431/2432 Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Expresses with paintings on tourist attractions of God’s Own Country is to be flagged off by Union Minister forTourism Kumari Selja from Nizamuddin station on January 17. Kerala Minister for Tourism and Home Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is to attend the programme.

The idea was to woo the tourists on a large scale to boost the traffic and earnings. As the train will move from the states of Haryana, UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra to reach Thiruvananthapuram, it will provide a more visibility for the destination and cater as a uniquetourism product. This will open chances for other Rajdhani trains in the country to boost the traffic of tourists in there respective states.

“It is part of the innovative promotion strategy to enhance more visibility for the destination and unique tourism products the State has to offer and to attract domestic tourists to Kerala in the coming days,” Director of Tourism M. Shivasankar informed.

All the 17 coaches of the superfast fully air-conditioned Rajdhani Express have been painted with distinct images of Kerala. As the train traverses Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka en route to Thiruvananthapuram and back, Mr. Shivasankar said, it would promote the tourist destinations in a big way.

The strategy to attract domestic tourists in a big way comes in the wake of the apprehensions about the decline in international tourist arrivals due to recession.Kerala Tourism is all set to kick off a three-month campaign across the country from February 1 to attract more domestic travellers. The national campaign will commence with theKerala Tourism Partnership Meet in Chandigarh on February 1.
