Hyderabad, January 29: Sania family is from middle class but the driving force is her mother who hails from mumbai is very much after the worldly gains and this seems to have created wedge between the families.
Lifestyle issues are believed to have triggered the split between tennis star Sania Mirza and her childhood-friend Sohrab Mirza forcing them to call off their relationship. The families of both the Mirzas have declared that there is a break-up. They had got engaged in July 2009.Sania Mirza’s father Imran said that the decision to call off the engagement was primarily due to the incompatibility between Sania Mirza and Sohrab.
“It was very much a mutual decision. Sania has already said there was incompatibility between the two and they both came to us. The families have been very close,” Imran said.
Though Sania too is believed to have wished Sohrab good luck, sources close to the family said that the two were not getting along well. “Though Sohrab’s family is definitely richer than Sania’s, there is a difference in the stature. This automatically brings in the lifestyle issues,” a source said.
Unconfirmed sources also said that Sania often disliked the way Sohrab was talking back on various issues. Known to be a soft-spoken person, Sohrab started serving the verbal volleys which were not appreciated by Sania.
However, the families of the Mirzas refused to get into the details. Imran Mirza said that the details were not known to them. “It was their decision and they told us that there was no compatibility,” he said.
In fact, after she got engaged to Sohrab, she made it very clear that her career in tennis was far from over.
“ Tennis will be always a part and parcel of my life,” she is on record saying. She could not have been more prophetic.
Her father Imran, however, said the decision to break the engagement would hurt both Sania and Sohrab.
“ She has to fight her way out of it. And it has nothing to do with her tennis career. She has to focus on her tennis now and will continue to play,” he said.
What made Sonia find Sohrab incompatible in the last six months? According to sources, it was basically an attitude problem.
“ Sania is a celebrity figure, while Sohrab is conservative.
She is an outspoken girl and he is a shy guy. Though both of them have been childhood friends, it is only after the engagement that they had come to know each other closely,” sources said.
During the last six months, Sohrab travelled with Sania on the Tour.
Apparently, she expected Sohrab to always be around and attend all the parties and high- profile gatherings. She used to dictate what dress he should wear and how to move with her friends and VIPs.
“ Obviously, Sohrab did not want to be a puppet in the hands of Sania’s family. He wanted to maintain his own identity. After all, he, too, comes from a noble family,” sources said.
It is learnt that Sohrab’s aunt, who was instrumental in fixing the engagement, took the initiative in calling it off, after realising that both of them were not getting along.
Sohrab’s family refused to come on record on the development.
However, his father Adil Mirza, a realtor and owner of Universal Bakers, a popular chain of bakeries in Hyderabad, said the engagement had been called off with mutual consent.
Sania has decided to take the personal setback in the right spirit.

My wife used to play tennis in Telengana district...but she never won any awards or tournaments. But finally she gave up and married to me. Now she plays tennis with my kids. I suggest Sania do the same.

We, in Gulf, were really sad and feel sorry after getting this news being aired in various media, with their own interpretion but as lover of sports and mainly when the name of our city being associated with Players like Sania Mirza we really felt a jolt and thuderbolt as if such marriages will really have a negative repercussions for the people belonging to glamour world. Often such marriages have proved to be failure if either of the party does want to give up her profession and settle in private life as a household.
But anyhow whatever may be the reasons, it is better for us to pray for the well-being and prosperity of both familiies and let us hope in future any such incidents do not recur & pray to Almighty to facilitate a better way for the both families in preventing them and protecting them from the evils of Satan and having good relations as family friends(among elders)without any problem - Ameen.
