Sarma new Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard

Rear Admiral S R Sarma here Thursday took over as the Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard, from Rear Admiral A K Saxena.

Rear Admiral Sarma was commissioned as an electrical officer in the Indian Navy in August 1983. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science and Engineering, according to a Navy release.

The Flag Officer is an alumnus of Naval War College. He has held various important appointments in the Indian Navy, including operational, staff, dockyard and research and development.

His afloat appointments include frontline warships Mysore, Krishna, Rana and Vindhyagiri.

He is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service.

Prior to this appointment, the Flag Officer served as the Assistant Chief of Material (Information Technology & Systems) at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) at New Delhi.

Rear Admiral Saxena, who was at the helm of affairs at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, for 15 months, will now assume duties of the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at Headquarters, Western Naval Command, Mumbai, the release added.
