Bhopal, February 07 (Pervez Bari): Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), conducted its first state conference in Berhampur town, District headquarters of Murshidabad District in West Bengal today.
About ten thousand people gathered in the Young Men Association Maidan, despite road blocks and traffic rearrangements made by police, owing to Chief Minister Budhdadev’s visit to the town. Party workers from the nook and corners of Murshidabad and the nearby two districts poured in to the Berhampur city by 2 O’clock in the afternoon. Presence of Muslim women in large numbers among the audience was a rare experience for the city. A courtesy visit by about 50 guests from Jharkhand also invited notice.
