Thummala quits TDP, may join TRS on sept. 5

Former minister and senior TDP leader of Khammam district, Thummala Nageswara Rao, today resigned from the party. Thummala, who was ailing from some time, visited the party office on Saturday and sent his one-line resignation letter to party president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

According to TDP sources, the TDP leader, who was mentally perturbed, said he would decide whether he would join other party or not on September 5. The sources said his eyes were moist when he was scribbling his resignation. Khammam district TDP president Kondabala, Zilla Parishad chairperson Kavita, MLC Balasani and others also quit the TDP.

Earlier, several TDP leaders enquiring with him about his health condition after his discharge from hospital. Thummala reportedly held a meeting with his followers in his camp office over their political future. With this, rumors were floating that the TDP leader might join the ruling TRS. It was also being rumored that Thummala would formally join the ruling party on September 5. The sources also claimed that Thummala has already met the TRS supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and decided auspicious day for joining the ruling party. Thummala is likely to get a cabinet berth in TRS Cabinet as KCR is learnt to have offered him one. It is being stated that Thummala enjoys strong following and clout in the district and will join the TRS along with a sizeable number of district level leaders.
