December 16:

Union Labour and Employment Minister M Mallikarjun Karge today said the Centre had formulated various schemes to benefit minority communities. Addressing a Minority Convention here, he said the UPA government had many more such schemes in the offing and asked people from minority communities to utilise it fully. "I want to appeal especially to the Muslim community to use the central schemes and come up in the society. A number of teenagers belonging to this community take up menial jobs. Their parents should realise that they need education not jobs", Kharge said. The convention also urged the state government to fill posts of Kannada teachers in minority Urdu schools across the state. PTI
