Urdu is popular throughout the world by internet: Zahid Ali Khan’s press conference

Hyderabad, December 26: (Siasat News) An International Conference of Urdu Editors will be convened on 30th and 31st December 2011 to review the issues pertaining to Urdu Newspapers. Vice President of India, Mr. Mohammed Hamid Ansari will inaugurate the conference. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told this in a press conference held here yesterday. He told that Urdu is making its presence felt in the entire world through Internet. Siasat is read in 184 countries and in 569 cities of the world. He said that International Urdu Editors’ conference is part of world Urdu conference held in 2006 wherein it was decided to provide a center for Urdu speaking population. He said that the Urdu editors from various countries are participating to review the issues concerning Urdu newspapers. Delegates from America, Canada, U.K. and other countries have confirmed their visits. Present in the press conference were Allama Eejaz Farukh, Mr. Amir Ali Khan & Fazil Hussain Parvez.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that from the entire country, 40 editors have been invited to attend the conference. This conference will play its role in strengthening Indo-Pakistan relations at journalistic levels besides establishing good contacts with other countries.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan informed that Urdu newspapers are facing lot of problems which encompass the prices of newsprint ink and transport expenses. Earlier, Govt. of India used to distribute newsprint but it has been thrown open now.

He said that the readership of Urdu newspapers is not dwindling but despite the introduction of newer newspapers, it is on the increase. He said that Urdu news channels, websites etc., are playing a pivotal role in promoting Urdu but the role of Urdu newspapers is also very important. He clarified that this conference has no political motives. While highlighting the promotion of Urdu, he said although Urdu has accepted the influence of Urdu but not at the cost of vanishing the beauty of Urdu language. He also told that an exhibition of 160 years old Urdu newspapers would also be organized on the occasion of the conference. This exhibition will be inaugurated by Mr. Syed Vicaruddin, Chief Editor of Rahnum-e-Deccan. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that the Urdu Newspapers have played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle of India. The editor of Delhi Urdu Akhbar Mr. Mohammed Baquer was blown up by a cannon during British regime. Siasat is concentrating on offering social service by providing physical training to the eligible candidates for their recruitment in Police department. Deserving candidates are given scholarships.

Mr. Zahid Ali khan told that through this conference a center would be provided to Urdu Editors for the exchange of their ideas. It will help them to bring together on a common platform.

Yes I agree..but only on Internet

Urdu is popular around the world via Internet, no denial. We dont want its popularity rather we want it in our practical lifes as it is a language and not a programme or festival which requires popularity.
I feel your focus should be on more giving its significance rather presenting it as a package. We appreciate your efforts, but in practical people around you are not serious, and to make URDU a compulsory subject everywhere we want a resolution be pass.
Make something big out of the visit of Vice President.
