The youth, both boys and girls, were seriously warned not to observe or participate in Valentine Day celebrations on February 14.
This warning was issued by leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bhajrang Dal on Saturday on the occasion of releasing the “Ban Valentine Day” poster and pamphlets.
Speaking on the occasion, VHP city president Bandaru Satyanarayan and Bhagyanagar Bhajrang Dal convenor Bharat Vamsi have asked the youth not to adopt the western culture, which was being encouraged by the capitalists to promote their business. The Indian social and cultural heritage was being trampled upon by the present-day youth, who were falling into the trap of the western culture, they observed.
Asserting that they were not against love, the VHP and Bhajrang Dal leaders expressed grave concern over the innocent youth, especially girls, were being exploited in the name of observing Valentine Day celebrations. Business houses selling greeting cards and bouquets, hotels, pubs, malls and resorts were encouraging the youth to observe Valentine Day only to fill their coffers.
While striking a warning to the youth to desist from observing Valentine Day, they said they would be forced to perform marriages if couples were found in parks, malls, pubs, resorts and so on. They also appealed to the parents not allow their children, especially the girls, to venture out on that day lest they face serious consequences. (NSS)
