Waqar Younis tipped to become Pak cricket team head coach

Former Pakistan team captain Waqar Younis is also being reportedly considered to fill the spot for the head coach just a day after Moin Khan was tipped to head the national selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Sources close to the PCB have reportedly hinted that the former-Pakistan coach Younis is in talks with the board chief Najam Sethi to succeed Khan, who is another former national skipper for Pakistan.

According to the Dawn, Younis, who coached Pakistan in 2010 and 2011 before resigning on health and personal grounds, has expressed his willingness to become the new head coach again after a PCB coach-finding committee rejected his previous application in early February.

The PCB at that time had reportedly decided to choose Khan, who was then serving as Pakistan’s team manager since their tour of Zimbabwe last August, for the head coach spot.

However, sources have revealed that the PCB is keen on roping in Younis for the second term as head coach for the national team, the report added. (ANI)
