June 24:

The rulling BJP in state has termed the Union Minister Virbhadra Singh's public ralley on 78th Birthday as 'wastage of public money for self glorification.' BJP spokesman Ganesh Dutt said in a statement here today that after spending crores in the birthday bash the Union Minister has defied the party directions of AICC president Sonia Gandhi who has advised them to be simple and frugal in celebrating their private functions.

Calling it a big 'fiasco' he said, Mr Singh has spent crores in raising big hoardings, banners and posters all over the State but the general public of the State has refused to be fooled and cheated by him again and again.

'Mr Singh who never prefers to talk on any vision or statistics always pleads on his vulnerability and mistreatment by the Congress high Command, he said.

BJP President Satpal Satti while talking to mediapersons called it thinly attended birthday rally of the Mr Singh who was more interested in his 'self projection' than doing anything concrete for the poor people of the hill State.

Mr Satti challenged him in listing any of his 'historic achievements' in his so called 'very long political career'. Comparing him to BJP Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal he said the Congress leader who is always harping on his seniority and self promotion has negligible vision and has done little for the growth and development of the hill State.

'Mr Singh despite being a central Minister could not bring any aid from the Centre and instead prematurely stalled the industrial package allotted to the backward hill State by the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.' BJP state leader alleged.

Calling Mr Singh just an 'emotional blackmailer' the BJP said he could never be called a far-sighted leader like Shanta Kumar who provided piped water to every village in the State or creative head like Mr. Dhumal who has made Himachal a power surplus State and a hydro power giant.

It is reported that Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal also conveyed his good wishes to Mr Singh on his 78th birthday. UNI
