Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has said that if the State was bifurcated, it would be difficult for people to even move about in Hyderabad.
Addressing the Samaikyandhra JAC meeting here on Saturday, he said Hyderabad was every one’s property. He questioned whether people from Seemandhra would be able to freely move about in Hyderabad if the Telangana State was formed. He claimed that only 100 to 150 students were regularly participating in the Telangana movement. He also said that some politicians were trying to get political benefit through the students.
He warned that the State would be divided into more pieces if a decision was taken to bifurcate it. He also demanded that he should be invited to the all-party meeting called on December 28. He said whenever elections were held, Congress, YSR Congress and TDP would together get 270 seats. By stating this, he has indicated that TRS would get only 20 seats.
Stating that emotions had already died down, Rajagopal said there was no consensus on State bifurcation. Alleging that there were attacks even when the State was united, he asked the people to imagine the position if the State was divided. He said some persons were trying to grab power, using students.
Rajagopal said the Congress would only argue for second SRC in the all-party meeting. He maintained that if this policy has to change, the decision has to be taken by the Congress Working Committee again. He also said that there would be no use of the all-party meeting. He also made it clear that State bifurcation would be possible only if main parties advocate it. He also claimed that 65 per cent of the people of the State want the State to be united.
Lagadapati called upon the students to undertake padayatras and bring pressure on the leaders to keep the State united. The JAC meeting has decided to organize a massive public meeting to press for keeping the State united. It also decided to undertake ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ program.
The meeting has decided that students should undertake padayatra and take the Samaikyandhra slogan into the people.
