12% reservation for Muslims campaign evokes enthusiasm in rural areas

Hyderabad: The campaign started by Siasat Urdu Daily for getting 12% reservation for Muslims is now reaching every village of Telangana State. A large number of Muslims from Bodhan, Khazipet, Edpally, Sangareddy and other places submitted memoranda to impress the Govt. of Telangana for providing 12% reservation for Muslims. It may be noted that Mr. KCR had promised in his election speeches that he would provide 12% reservations to Muslims but even after the lapse of 16-months, this promise has not been fulfilled. Sudheer Commission of Enquiry has no legal status whereas BC Commission can recommend for reservation. Govt. should ensure 12% reservation for Muslims in accordance with the recommendations of Sachar Committee and Ranganatha Mishra Commission so that the economic and educational backwardness of the Muslims could be eradicated.

These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Mohammed Hamid Mohammed Khan, Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami while addressing a press conference at Sangareddy. He further told that Govt. of Telangana has announced the formation of State Wakf Board. Illegal possessions on Wakf lands should be removed and Wakf properties should be protected. Wakf Board should be given legal status. He also told that the education of Urdu Medium students is getting affected due to the shortage of teachers. He demanded the Govt. to fill up vacant post of subject teachers in Urdu medium schools through DSC. He mentioned that lofty claims are made for the promotion of Urdu, this language has the status of second official language in Telangana State but not a single department has written Urdu on its sign board.

Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan also told that it has almost become impossible for a common man to meet a cabinet minister of Telangana State to get his problems resolved. The welfare schemes of Govt. of Telangana are not publicized in Urdu newspapers.

Mr. M.N. Baig Zahid, General Secretary of Jamat-e-Islami, Mr. Mohammed Amjad Husain and others were present in the press conference.

A delegation led by Mirza Jaleel Baig, Vice President of Telangana Urdu Journalists’ Forum, Bodhan met Mr. Venkatiah, Tehsildar, Bodhan and handed over the memorandum for providing 12% reservations for Muslims. He applauded the efforts of Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily that he has exhibited courage to launch the campaign for providing 12% reservation for Muslims.
