16-year-old girl thrown off running train, by unidentified assailants

Jharkhand: A 16-year-old girl was thrown from a running train in Latehar region by an unidentified assailants. The girl named Shayada Khatun  died on the spot.

Shayada resident of Mahuatikar in Bhandaria block of Garhwa district was travelling with her relative Mansoor, 22, at the time of the incident.

She was travelling to Barwadih  on the Chopan-Chunar-Barwadih down passenger train on Monday night. As soon as the train left Kechaki railway station around 10.20 pm, 10-12 armed people attacked the duo. They snatched their mobile and sone cash. Then they dragged  Shayada and pushed her out of the door of the running train. They even attacked  Mansoor with a knife when he tried to resisted.

I don’t know the assailants’ identity… They (did not) loot any other passengers travelling with us,” Mansoor said.

He also added that because of the family dispute, the victims’ family had fled from their native village recently. “After testifying in a court in Ranka, we boarded the train at Garhwa at 9.20 pm and were to get down at Barwadih.”

The reason for the incident is not known. The officials at the Kechaki railway station were informed of the incident on Tuesday morning. GRP sub inspector Sugriv Ram said.“We are looking into the matter. A team has been dispatched to the spot. More details are awaited.”
