2 Babies From Surat With 16 Kilos Of Gold In Their Diapers

NEW DELHI: At least 16 kg gold biscuits hidden in baby diapers were today recovered from a group of fliers from Dubai at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Officials said the recovery was made around 7:00 am when a group of six passengers, who arrived in New Delhi from Dubai, were intercepted by security agencies for a thorough check.

“Gold biscuits weighing about 16 kg have been recovered from the passengers. The sixteen gold biscuits, of 1 kg each, were found cleverly concealed in the diapers and towels of the two babies they were carrying. The two groups comprising a couple and a baby each are from Surat,” they said.

The fliers are being interrogated by customs officials, they added.

“They earned good salaries and said they had savings. Asked about the source of the gold biscuits, they said they had bought it as it was the cheapest source of investment. However, we are investigating further,” an official said to Indian Express.
