2 from Kerala with ‘Dawood links’ held, arms seized

Kolkata: Two armed persons from Kerala with alleged links to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim were arrested by Kolkata Police, a senior officer said today.

The Anti-Rowdy Section of the city police arrested the two on Thursday night from near Howrah Bridge where they were loitering in a “suspicious” manner.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the two were on the most wanted list of Kerala police because of their links with Dawood Ibrahim,” the IPS officer said.

“But, it is still not clear, why did they come here. We are trying to find that out,” he added.

One of the two was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, while the name of the other was yet to be confirmed.

Two 7 mm pistols and some documents in Malayalam were seized from them, the IPS officer said.

After their arrest, the two were questioned by the officials of the Special Task Force (STF), Kolkata Police as well as those from the state Intelligence Bureau.
